22 feet above sea level might not be enough. When Rita hit 3 years ago i would of never thought the water could of come up this high in certain areas down here. And you are right by the water kegray. You got more balls than me i will give you that.
I have been in 3 hurricanes in my lifetime.
I rode out Alicia in the 80's in exact same area.
120+MPH winds and a predicted storm surge near the same.
I am not worried in the slightest,but if it does look bad then I will bail to a friends house 20+ miles inland.
Roads are empty and hurricane winds dont kick in until around 6pm. I can get out and to a safe spot in 30 minutes.

I would say about 25% of this area did not leave.
Many people didnt want to go through trafic like Rita. It was taking people 15+ hours to get to Dallas.
Local news is saying only a Cat 2 and will weaken nearing land fall.
