I think pulpit politics are wrong whatever the message. Too many people that need to hear the word. We can watch the news and the pundits at home. Once u have them in church, talk about salvation and a relationship with God.

As you already know, China and the United States have both warned the oil producing countries they will not be held hostage over the production and distribution of oil.

President Bush has already asked King Abdullah twice to increase oil production. The first time he was publicly told "no". The second time he was granted a small increase.

Sen. Charles Schumer, D-New York, downplayed the Saudi increase.

"Nice try, but no cigar. When gas is at $4 per gallon, demand increases almost daily, and the Saudis have millions of barrels per day more in spare capacity," he said.

"This isn't nearly good enough."

Buddy - when I was 11 and listening to this stuff at church it was credit cards, cashless society, and the number of the *Beast* indicating the looming apocolypse that they scared us with.

These fundamentalist churches need to keep their followers scared that the world is ending in a few years. They use every modern event as a way to prove it's happening. See, if the 2nd coming and judgement day were 50 years off, then people wouldn't be scared enough to keep giving them money and voting for their candidates. BUT when they strike fear that Revelation is indicating that it's happening now, then everyone is eager to give their savings (I mean who needs money when the world ends, right?) and get on the right team for the winning score.

Well Smurph, maybe some fundamentalist churches need to use every modern event as a way to prove armageddon is at hand. Ours doesn't and we don't. Our pastor preaches the message of salvation and makes sure the congregation hears the word of God (as written in the King James version of the bible). The bible teaches this world will come to an end. You have the free will to believe or reject the assertion. I believe it. I just don't have any faith in political systems to correct the problems we are facing. Until yesterday, I had never heard the term "Peak Oil". Had you? Google it and let me know what you think?

Yes, like 20 years ago. We are certainly not slaves to the inevitability though. Many alternatives are out there without us having to fight wars for every last drop.

They should all be shut down or have to do what Wrestling had to and call itself " Church entertainment". Then start paying some taxes like we all do. My former priest has a great gig. He is married with kids in a nice big house. Nicknamed father grabadollar. They use to come in my shop with like six people. Never would leave the waitress a tip till i shame the fukers into one.
