my 18yo stepdaughter prob can type 80 words a minute on her phone that her dad provides for her.
she doesn't talk on the phone much and i guarantee she must do 10,000 text messages a month.
it's constant and gets annoying.
you take that thing from her, you may as well commit her.

I dont know the ratio, but I do text more than I call anymore.

moose yes, but I text friends at least 10 times as much as I talk to them. I have quite a few contacts though that I must call as they are text illiterate. I'm fast, and I love texting rather than talking on the phone.

I am the same way, talking on the phone is my least favorite thing to do. I prefer to text always over a phone call. For me ratio is probably 50-1 :shrug:
And I also prefer email to text. If people want to get in touch with me, I always say email is the best. I probably only answer the phone at a rate of 1 to every 4 calls I get, and I make less than 1 call a day.
Maybe I'm anti-social, but I'm OK with it. Texting is great - you can't type too much, so you don't have to babble on and on (or more importantly, listen to the other person babble)...

On another note, my 14-year-old niece averages 17,000 texts a month or about 567 texts per day. When she called verizon once they said they had never seen someone with more texts. It is pretty unbelievable she is always typing away on her phone.

why don't these people have jobs and responsibilities to keep them busy..
especially these kids..
school...job...homework..house chores...yard work..car cleaning..boat cleaning..fence to paint..deck to stain..
what in the frig are you people doing besides nothing but friggin' typing.
just a shame there is no guarentee I can watch this generation being raised today when they are shoved out the front door to live their own friggin lives. [almost forgot..they get to stay home forever with mommy]..
I will not live long enough to see the absolute chaos that these future adult will create.But after they throw my ashes in the Chesapeake Bay I am going to somehow someway catch a glimpse of how absolutely unprepared for the real world these young adults are.

I am so thankful I was raised to understand the meaning of work and responsibility..I would have never made it through the tuff and hard times without it..

I'm sure all these kids have part-time jobs! :mj07: I'm more worried about all the 40 and 50 somethings now who in 15-25 years will be making up the base of the hospital admissions. Our older generation now is great, but in 15-25 years, you'll have 2 out of 3 patients threatening to sue you if you don't get their menu selection right etc. I'll be glad I'll be out if by then, and I feel sorry for those in healthcare then! kurby
:mj07: I thought I was the only one who didn't answer phone calls intentionally. And I'm not talking telemarketers, I'm talking friends too. It sounds bad, but I give people fair warning. If they want to reach me, send me an e-mail.
I prefer text messages, short to the point no talking. I also talk on cell quite a bit so it is about 1/2 and 1/2 for me
How many hours of her day do you think is allocated to sending and reading text messages?
The entire fking day. It's so annoying you can't believe it. When I go visit I hide the phone.
We use text at work to keep it off the servers. Our blackberry emails go throuhg but text does not and has become a financial services norm.... keeping messages offline... :0corn
