What a waste.

Can they be called and talked into extending it?

Nope--I fly mostly SW--when it i up its up--I forgot about one free RT I had and realized it with 2 days left--just lost it. I usually get 3-4 a year with them. But keep track now. Their new reward system is little bit different now.

Fly to baltimore for 1 night friday, 24th and catch a O's game. They are at home Friday night vs Toronto.
Fly back late Saturday.

I had one of mine expire once. Had to pay $50 to get it reinstated for one year. I now use them as soon as I can, the airlines are getting to be a joke with the ridiculous fares. The frequent flyer airline cards aren't much better reinventing their programs every year so they can fuck the consumer.

The old system you could pay $50 to keep it for one more year. Not sure about the new system.

With the old system I think you can get them back up to a year old. The new rewards for SWA has some points system. However, I think they stay active for a lot longer than a year.
