Got a 60-year old co-worker that jumps every summer. He has asked me to join him several times, but I have a wife and a newborn now. Makes me think twice and the wife would never agree. Should have done it a couple of years ago. Sponge, I am one of these people that don't do drugs but do need an adreneline rush from this sort of activity. None of the rides at Six Flags can tickle my stomach anymore. So I do understand why people like taoist do what they do.

Congratulations, taoist. That was awesome.

chad,

1- was this spur of the moment or was it planned? I have been wanting to jump since I was a wee teenager.... A realtor friend of mine had jumped a couple of times, most recently last month and asked if I wanted to go, so I guess it's been planned for a few weeks....

2- how much do they charge? Tandum jump charge is about $200, I paid the extra c-note for the pictures and video....

3- who took the pics? There's a videographer that jumps with you.... You can see him in the video.... Those guys are wild.... He climbs out on the side of the plane and hangs on as you go to the door so he can get pics of you jumping out.... Then he jumps behind you and follows you down for the pictures and video.... After you deploy, he waits a few seconds and then deploys and gets back to the ground quickly to get the pics and video of you landing..... Amazing folks, those videographers....

4- how long were you in the air? It goes by so quick.... I know that the freefall was about 60-65 seconds.... Then you just glide down slowly after the shoot opens.... I would guess about 2-4 minutes....

5- why? Because I can! Aren't we all thrill seekers?!?! Anyone still get a rush from a big gambling win??? Now, multiply that by 1,000,000,000

no fuggin way i jump.

To answer your other question about the shoot, the first mile goes by really fast.... 120mph straight toward the ground for 60 seconds covers just over a mile.... Shoot deploys about a mile up....somewhere around 6,000 feet.

I woke up this morning thinking about it again.... Wow!!! What a freaking rush.... :00hour

taoist,

i was walking on air for about a week after i jumped - been meaning to do it again and probably will soon

as i'm sure you can attest, it literally feels like you're FLYING during the freefall - most tense part for me was the ride up, which seemed to last hours on end - just sit there looking at your altimeter watching it slowly rise to the prescribed altitude

gets me excited just thinking about it - think everyone should do this once before they die

keep on keepin' on

It's called LIVING dude. Aren't you the same guy that wouldn't attend the Super Bowl party because you are afraid terrorists will hit it? You see some people get out, and enjoy the World and adventure. You watch too much Fox News man, you can probably tell me the terror alert level for the past month off the top of your head. Let me guess, todays color is Orange(elevated)??

Just jabbin at you Sponge, you know that, but seriously, loosening up and enjoying life might help you a bit..

Taoist, NICE!!! Always wanted to do that! Love how you were trying to smile for the pictures, :mj07: :mj07: :mj07:

That is enjoying life? And to boot to have a freaking man bolted on to me? Don't they have broads that do this? To say i have no life because i think its assinine to get a thrill from this is comical. Agent i didn't say i wouldn't attend the superbowl party because i thought a terror plot was gonna take place. I said i try to stay out of high volume places because when we get hit it is not gonna be a mini mart that gets banged. By the way someone just got blown up in a Vegas parking lot. Looked like an inside job tho.

Sponge,

To each his own, but you sure come off regularly in your posts as a homophobic, spoil-sport, buzz-kill, know-it-all. Don't despair, Sponge, you can probably fix all of the above by getting yourself a nice piece of a$$ one of these days;)

Above the Clouds....
Hey toaist,
I only jumped at 3200 ft. 12,000 has to be a real rush. Years ago I said i wanted to do everything twice. That's about the only thing I've only done once.
