My collie is 12 yrs ole and he seems to have like certain flaking spots he wants to itch. I have taken him to the vet and she gives me antibiotics for him that seem to help for a few days( it never completely gets rid of the spots) but these seem to keep coming back...........almost like flaky scabs but they dont bleed or anything.......i can rum them and they just "flake off"

If he were human I would just use lotion on him......

Sound like something called hot spots vet should of known that and even if not still a skin problem, you buy a shampoo called tar shampoo bath them every other day for a week and will be all gone, gets rid of 99% of al kin problems can pick it up at any **, vet will charge you triple then the 10 bucks or so it cost, it is great for hot spots or any skin problem on a dog.

I have an old dog too, and this is his worst problem. He has bitten the fur off and has sores on both of his forelegs. During the night, you can hear a "THUMP, THUMP, THUMP". Sounds like somebody beating on the door, but it is actually him scratching his head and hitting the floor with his back leg on each downstroke.

The shampoos have not helped him. Small doses of prednisone have (be cautioned, this often makes a dog incontinent of urine or gives them the "dribbles"), and Benadryl has also.

The vet has also injected the hotspots, but that really hasn't helped. It's a pitiful condition especially in an old dog that has arthritis and doesn't feel the best anyway. GL!

Promotes healthy skin and shiny coats. Provides the perfect ratio or Omega 6 (Borage Oil) and Omega 3 (Fish Oil) that resolve canine and feline skin disorders including: seborrhea, pruritis, allergic itching, dry skin, hot spots and rashes. Veterinary research throughout the world has shown that only oils which provide GLA, EPA and DHA are of significant help solving canine and feline skin and coat disorders. A combination of fish oil and evening primrose or borage oil has shown to be the most beneficial. Common vegetables oils such as oil, sesame, soy and flax seed oil are so ineffective they are sometimes used as placebos in controlled studies.

What are the sources of GLA, EPA and DHA?
Fish Oil: = n3 derivatives of DHA and EPA. Sources of DHA and DPA are fatty fish from cold waters. Borage Oil = n6 derivatives of GLA. Sources of GLA are evening primrose, borage, hemp seed and black currant seed oil.

Do commercially prepared pet foods contain enough Omega 3 & 6's?
No. Because the EFA's especially the n3 family are very perishable. EFA's are destroyed by heating , processing and moderate to high temperature cooking. They also turn rancid relatively rapidly and cannot be used in satisfactory amounts in pet and human foods which are designed to sit on the grocery or cabinet shelf for months unrefrigerated.

Ingredients:
Each tsp. Contains:
Borage Oil Providing GLA 500 mg
Fish Oil Providing 4000 mg
Vitamin A 200 mg
Vitamin D 200 mg
Vitamin E (d-1 alpha tocopherol) 1000 iu
