At my daughter's softball game yesterday and around the softball fields (there are 5 at this place) there must be 25 signs that say tobacco use is not allowed in any form by players, parents or spectators.

It's very clear they don't want anyone smoking on the property. Now, having said that this softball league is run by idiots, idiots. If you have a 5:00 game your kid needs to be there at 4:30 for warm-ups and these games can take 2:30 to 3 hours to play, THEN the coach has to give a 20 minute recap/post game speech to the kids.

I understand that being tied up at the field for 3-4 hours is a long time for a smoker to go without a cigarette and you will see several wander off towards the woods and sneak in a smoke. I think they shouldn't since it's clear smoking is prohibited, but I understand why the do. I get it.

Yesterday while walking to the snack shop I passed by the potra-john and a guy flings the door open just as I pass by and there was an incredible odor of marijuana coming from inside.

Seriously, I can understand not being able to get by without a cigarette, but can you lay off the pot for a few hours at your kids game?

I think the fact that these kids' games go 2.5 - 3 hours is the biggest issue here.

Yea, not that this is the direction I was heading, but you are correct.

Softball, apparently, is serious business. The warm up time once the game is supposed to start is crazy. 5 minutes between innings to throw the ball around and warm up the pitcher really drags these games out. Several parents have spoke up about this and the league president is adamant that it's the right thing to do.

7 inning game so a minimum of 12 side changes plus the start of the game adds oven an hour to the length of the games. It's brutal.

Many towns have gone to time limits on games.......I use to umpire the girls when they played slow pitch. Our town switched to fast pitch for all age groups and I quit. No way was I going to get stuck behind the plate for 2-3 hours at practically minimum wage.

You wouldnt have confronted shit.

Btw, I agree that the time kids activities take nowadays is crazy. My 4 year old is playing soccer and its only 20 minutes halfs, but show up 15 minutes before, oranges and shit afterwards. The best part is the difference between warm up and the game is the fact that they take away all the balls but one and then several of the kids sit down during the game. I could care less if my kid scores (eventhough she is nasty like Mia Hamm already) but we have had the discussion of sitting down out there. I always wonder what the parents are doing to allow their kids to just sit down out there, well now I know they are smoking some weed in the shitter. Full Circle.

ACTUALLY THE LENGTH OF GAMES IS WHAT DRIVES PEOPLE AWAY. THE "CASUAL" FANS AND PLAYERS BOTH LOSE INTEREST. DRAGGING GAMES OUT MAKES THE PARENTS AND THE LITTLE GIRL WHO BATS 9TH AND PLAYS RIGHTFIELD VERY BORED :0008

Stop crying about the length of the game, smokers & stop hanging around porta-johns. I was at a spring training game in Sarasota (Birds ) it's a smoke free stadium . I went off to a corner ( no one around ) to take a couple puffs on my electric cig. & was told to put away or I would be asked to leave . The sausage grill created more fumes than my cig. Have fun at her next game !

The argument here really isn't that someone felt the need to light up during a softball game.

The real issue here is that someone toked up in a porta john. Seriously, you are that hard up that you lit up inside a box full of shit?

If there are casual fans watching little girls play softball you might want to call the police. :0008
