as i said, she has the "key states" that the dems need to beat mccain...

it`s still a long way to go...if hillary wins by double digits in pa......wins indiana...is somehow they decide to count florida and michigan(how can they not?....why wouldn`t moderate dems in florida and michigan vote moderate mccain in november to protest their disenfranchisement?)......

I'm gonna address the two points above...

"Key" states........in my mind this is just :bs: Think about this "I won the big state theory"

IL/NY/NJ/Cali/Mass are blue until the end (probably MI/Penn as well) no matter who the Dem nominee is.......just don't talk about drilling in Alaska, remain pro-choice, and don't oppose gay marriage and you win. Ohio/TX are tweeners, so in the general election, the Dem nominee just drifts right far enough to appease them w/o losing the automatics.

In addition, you have some red states in play for Barry O b/c of increased turnout/race......i.e. LA/GA/SC/MS and anywhere else blacks make up a significant percentage. Add to this the fact that BO does better w/"independents" and the Big State Theory just doesn't add up for me.........she gets the people who are going to vote Dem no matter what happens, and he brings more people to the polls, while dominating young voters and independent voters.

"Disenfranchisement (is this a word:shrug: ) of the MI/FL voters"............again, this is :bs: ITS A PRIMARY. They haven't lost any rights. If they feel jipped off, call the state chair of the Dem Party and gripe about their poorly-calculated decisions to play outside the rules they agreed to last year. Plus, what about the urban and minority voters that did not vote in the uncontested primary? They would be getting :s6: if those delegates sit, because they're turnout was poor b/c IT DIDN'T COUNT.

On to UGA's question.........if the "party bosses" pull the rug out from under the people's votes nominate Hillary (she can't catch up without blowouts in Penn/NC, which ain't happenin'), then all the self-righteous bitchin' we did about Fla in 2000 and Ohio in 2004 is rendered meaningless. All that cash that both BHO & Team Clinton funeled to the Supers!! It will illegitamize the process, plain and simple. I don't think the Supers have the temerity to pull this stunt, this giant FVCK YOU on the people. The party would be a laughingstock. Even Gore or Edwards will jump in and say something before that happens, right?

.....long one boys, getting jacked up for the games! Have fun tonight! D:SIB C

PS Chad is right..........likely two Supremes chosen by next President.

hillary can still conceivably win the popular vote....why can`t pennsylvania be a blow-out/double figure win....looks highly likely....

and all you have to do is look at the polls(if you believe any of them)to see that more clinton voters will lean mccain`s way if obama gets the nod than obama voters leaning mccain`s way if hill gets the nod...

"Ohio/TX are tweeners, so in the general election, the Dem nominee just drifts right far enough to appease them w/o losing the automatics."

you`re dreaming ,doc....which dem nominee is drifting anywhere near the right?...they`re as far left as they can go....how are they leaning 'right" in any way?...change?.....lol

and believe me...there are plenty of disenfranchised dems and independents in florida and michigan....the dem politicos f`ed it up but good and these good people have been rendered null and void by idjits like "dr." howard dean and his crew...draconian measures to penalize these states may come back to bite you on the ass....

not sitting to well with the faithful...

and you aren`t even considering the jewish vote...at one time considered monolithically(is THAT a word...lol) democratic.....but!

after all this anti-semitic baggage has finally been unpacked from obama`s racist friends and mentors...and maybe rezko gets some media attention...and compadre`s like old weatherman underground terrorists william ayers and bernadine dohrn have been brought to light, maybe middle america and some influential joos on each coast may not like what they see when they have a "maverick/ almost liberal" republican alternative who loves reaching across the aisles to "polish" the nearest democrat`s bayonet(i.e. bludgeon their beefsteak;) ...you get it) ...

maybe some clear thinking americans will realize that a one party controlled w.h. and congress aren`t conducive to a better america....no checks and balances...

hillary`s negatives are out there...obama seems to be the gift that keeps on giving.....you never know what might come next...

we`ll see....

i just happen to have a rare photo of spongy being hypnotized by the "obama-nible snow(job)man" ...

he has spongy in his power...

Nah Weasel like always this is a vote for the lessor of three evils. On 1 hand i have McCain who has completely flip flop on most of his position(remember flip flopping? The reason for your vote in 04). He doesn't even support any of his own bills  . The 2000 McCain i could see myself voting for. This version for get about it. Now we have Hillary. How can i have respect for this woman? Cheated on numerous times but still with her man:shrug: . Then watching her husband touring the world with the snake of all snakes daddy Bush, who knows what they were talking about. Then we have this war she voted for and if you are not a total idiot you would know that she voted for it because she didn't want to be on a (bad)side like the first Iraq war where those anti war votes cost some their jobs. Her vote had nothing to do with what was right or wrong and everything to do with trying to take the safe way out but it blew up in her face. Nafta was a nice anti american worker bill her husband got sucked into signing. I know you like those type of bills seeing how anti american worker you are. My opinions on Obama are still in limbo. Lets see what the rightwing neocon slime machine can dig up because so far what they got effects jackasses. (a pastor, a baby comment:mj07: ) The real American in this race is Nadar so maybe i will give my last vote before i die to a real man before i turn my life into a real dirt bag and join the side of greedy and gullible. Look at all the time i will have on my hands. I won't have to watch anymore political stuff or ever post on a political sight anymore (have at it boys). Then in ten years if i decide to get back into politics and go with the spineless party again, i will watch Hannity for an hour and then the other shepperd OReilly. Those two hours will most likely be all i need to figure out the agenda of the dirty side. Hopefully in those ten years some will finally reach the age of reason but i highly doubt it.
Go McCain at least when that phone rings at three in the morning he will be up to get it, right after he takes a piss.

They can't and why are you asking a question that has not or most likely won't happen?

Your right it is better to wait and see if things happen before asking questions about the ramifications:shrug:

I agree weasle and escarzamd there are perfectly rational reasons for nominating Clinton even if she does not have the most delegates entering the convention. Having said this I think this would lead to even greater division amoung dems and could do nothing but help mccain. Really a catch 22 IMO.

Points taken.........I still don't buy the Big State crap, though. Even a big Penn win wont counter the BHO blowout brewing in NC. She's 700K behind in popular vote and too far behind in pledged delegates. There are only around 600-700 left and she would have to nab 60% of those, (she has had ONE win that big, and that was Arky) and 1 million more votes to make up in the states left as well? Team Clinton knows its not gonna happen and has been pulling out all the stops for 6 wks.........flopped on the agreement last yr regarding FL/MI primaries, floating the dream ticket, floating the idea that pledged delegates can change they're mind as well, hardcore push on a mortgage bailout, bitchin' about how they're being outspent..........troof is I just don't like how she operates.

They're already leaning to the center (not the right, that was a reach) on immigration and "free trade", aren't they? In this day and age, they don't have to on health care or foreign (if the "surge" is as BS as I think it is) & economic policy.

You really think NY/NJ/NE is going to go Red? That would be new and interesting, but I can't see it. This race stuff.... the anti-jew hate card angle.......this fear that he's a closet Black Panther and theys gonna rize up and take over....... is very possibly something I just don't want to believe. It just feels like sensationalism......something for the media monster b/c we've had a six-week layoff without a vote, and my "hope" is that we get get back on the ground and hash out the tangible issues again. Even McCain is getting bored.......the "biography" tour? I may be dreaming there.....looking for our better angels I guess.

I just have to disagree with you about FL/MI......they fvcked it up on they're own.......can't see how you blame Dr Scream for a scenario where the DNC said don't move the primary or we'll void it, hashed it out in public, got every candidate to agree, threatened to void it again, FL/MI moved them anyway for no good reason except they thought the shootin' match would be over by Super Tuesday, then the DNC follows through on the threat..........methinks the reason they don't vote again by mail or something is who'll pay for it? You have to admit the re-vote would be different if you let the blacks and Cubans turn out in FL, and the same in MI......maybe she double-digits there, maybe not. I have no good answer on the issue except to say I think they should've gotten the chance to vote, they didn't through no fault of their own........ and you can't blame the candidates either way.

There's more vetting to come on BHO........the details of the nature of Chicago and Illinois politics are revealing on what it takes to make your bones 'round here..........a crash course on the worst politics has to offer all of us. Even you have to admit he's holding up pretty well here so far. Stay tuned is true enough ....

"Bludgeon the bayonet".........disturbing imagery:142smilie

BTW........I have to admit I perused the latest "troofer" thread hoping I would see the tin-foil hat picture again......but instead I just read the whole damn thing and still can't find those IQ points I lost.......don't bait-n-switch me like that again:mj07:

NC heavy --- 4 units......I'm not posting it on my CBB thread, but I love Carolina -3; lean to O-VAIR, MON FRERE. (160)

I have a 1 unit ticket on Memphis to win it all @ 6-1, so I'm hedging it with a 1 unit UCLA +125. Small UCLA/Under bird, but the hedge is much bigger.

Have fun today!!!

The fact is that both Hillary and Obama are minorities. The Corporate Press will try to make it sound like the Dems did something crooked no matter who wins. The fact is that this is the way the system is supposed to work. I don't like it but it has been in place for years. The convention will have all kinds of backroom deals going on. Of course the Cororate Press running interference for McCain will spin it as if this is something unheard of.

From a Hillary supporter (one who will ignore Wayne's ongoing Drudge-like dredging of all things Clinton in this thread for now), I think Wease is right on the money with his assessment - and it does present a problem for the Dems. Hillary is certainly strongest in the states that will be important - if not required - for the dems to carry in November. Although I am not black, I certainly think that the nomination process should include a frank look and discussion of which candidate has a better chance to beat the opposition party candidate in the election - otherwise, what's the point of the process at all?

I still think, however, that whichever dem candidate does win, the people who support the other one will probably vote for the dem nominee - when push comes to shove, which it might.

Hopefully, the dems will keep their eye on the ball and realize the big picture of what a President is responsible for directly - which is nominating judges, and establishing quality cabinet members and suggesting policy is one of the last important things, IMO. The judge thing - especially the Supreme Court over the next few years - is extremely important to the balance of Power and what the country will stand for in the future. I think this is as important as anything, other than maybe communication, personality and public image - which does matter a lot.

I agree and don't think h is toast yet--actually she leads in electorial votes not counting Mich and Fla--
But she going to have to quit spinning these whoppers if she has any chance--was just caught again-by AP this time--:142smilie

Since competing in Ohio's March 4 primary, Clinton has shared the story of an Ohio woman who worked in a pizza parlor and died after giving birth to a stillborn child. The woman was uninsured, Clinton said, and twice denied medical care at a local hospital because she couldn't pay a $100 fee.

Clinton said she learned of the story from a deputy sheriff whose home she visited while campaigning in Ohio. She told the story as recently as late Friday, at a rally in Grand Forks, N.D.

Officials with O'Bleness Memorial Hospital in Athens, Ohio, have disputed the story, saying the woman, Trina Bachtel, was insured and did receive care through an obstetric practice affiliated with the hospital, The New York Times reported Saturday.

Hospital officials did not immediately return phone calls Saturday from The Associated Press.

Clinton spokesman Mo Elleithee acknowledged that the campaign had tried but hadn't been able to "fully vet" the story before she began repeating it on the campaign trail.

"She tells the story as it was told to her by the deputy sheriff. She had no reason to doubt his word," Elleithee said. "If the hospital claims it didn't happen that way, we certainly respect that and she won't repeat the story. She never mentions the hospital by name and isn't trying to cast blame."

Elleithee noted that candidates often retell stories they are told by voters they meet on the campaign trail.

So the pro republican media will say the dems are crooked for nominating the person with the most delegates entering the convention:mj07: That is funny on a few levels. If they give the nomination to clinton with fewer delgetes entering convention I would imagine the good reverends sharpton and jackson would be demanding answers, no?

I don't see what you see so funny. Even the Repukeagains demand something like 1100 delegates not a simple majority. It just so happens that McCain will have that many going into the convention. If he didn't there would be a lot of in fighting going on. Perhaps you remember Ronald Regans first run. He lasted until the convention. Made a good speech and got nominated the next time around. Just the fact that you are so surprised that the person with the most delagates going into the convention doesn't automaticaly get the nomination shows how you have been brain washed by the Corporate Press. And GW, my friend, it is you who has your head buried in the sand if you can't see it.

Clinton Drops Another Tale From Stump Speech
Another Clinton Campaign Story Shot Down
By ELOISE HARPER
April 5, 2008

For the second time in recent days, Sen. Hillary Clinton has had to drop a story from her stump speech after being challenged on its accuracy.

Hospital denies Hillary Clinton's story of pregnant woman denied health care. For the past month, the New York senator liked to tell the tale of a pregnant woman who was denied health care from an Ohio hospital because she did not have $100 the hospital demanded to treat her. After being turned away, the woman was brought back to the hospital days later with severe complications. She had to be rushed to another facility for advanced treatment, but it was too late. Both the woman and the baby died, Clinton told her audiences.

For Clinton, the story was an example of how everyone should have universal healthcare. It is a powerful tale and always drew gasps from the audience.

The hospital, which was never named in Clinton's speeches, objected this weekend, saying it wasn't true and demanded that Clinton stop telling it. The Clinton campaign told ABC News today that the candidate heard the story from a deputy sheriff and had no reason to doubt the story.

"If the hospital claims it didn't happen that way, we certainly respect that and she won't repeat the story," said Clinton spokeswoman Mo Elleithee.

"Candidates are told stories by people all the time, and it's common for candidates to retell those stories," Elleithee said. "It's not always possible to fully vet them, but we try. For example, medical records are confidential. In this case, we tried but weren't able to fully vet the story."

Elleithee said the point of the story is that the country has a health care problem. "That's a point very few people will dispute," she said. The senator's credibility came under fire last week when she tried to burnish her credentials as a veteran of international hot spots and described dodging sniper fire upon arrival in Bosnia in 1996 when she was traveling as a First Lady.

"Why do I have to keep proving to people that I am not a liar?!"(From the book "The Survivor," by John Harris, p. 382 - Hillary in her 2000 Senate campaign)

Something is wrong when you have to repeatedly tell a presidential candidate to stop telling lies and fabrications. It must come so naturally for the Clintons. They had alot of practise when Billy was in the white house :SIB

Will unsavory connections be the slow death of Hillary Clinton? The Democratic candidate, of course, has run a near-flawless campaign so far, forcing the press to obsess over her body instead of her platform, but the swarm of characters around Camp Hillary is beginning to look like a liability. First there was the twitchy fugitive fund-raiser Norman Hsu. Then one of her donors and Bill's golfing buddies turned out to be mixed up in a scary cultlike organization. Now comes the word that Mark Penn, Hillary's longest-serving adviser, also runs Burson-Marsteller, a company doing PR for the mercenaries of Blackwater.
Whoops. The unfortunate connection rips the teeth right out of an incredibly effective bit of anti-Bush rhetoric (Blackwater, from their name and logo down, are ? in the words of Stephen Colbert ? cartoonishly evil). It also means Hillary now has the dubious honor of having been linked to a Whitewatergate and to a Blackwatergate. Right-wing bloggers are already crowing about how the Dems won't be able to use Blackwater as a handy symbol of everything that's gone wrong in Iraq. The logic here is beyond flawed (does the Hillary link means everything's gone right?), but it's exactly the kind of logic that wins debates. In the coming months, as even the GOP realizes Hillary's health plan sounds pretty damn appealing, expect them to reach deeper and deeper into the Clintons' motley collection of associates for damning, if tenuous, connections. But not to fear. At least Hillary just scored a ringing endorsement from an influential old friend ? George McGovern. Hoo boy
