When will the NCAA wake up and smell the roses?
They have a gold mine they are walking on, but
their feet are numb. ( Don't have a lot between
their ears either ).

Lots of issues on the playoff front. College presidents absolutely against it. The Pac 10/Big 11 act like the Rose Bowl means more than the national championship. Part of the concern is that the other bowls would go away. So wtf will teams like Oregon State, Wake Forest etc even play for. And if we cant figure out who no 1, how do you separate 7 from 9, or seed.....

What I hate is with an exception here or there Great OOC games have gone away. Never happen, but they should simply decide Division I is about 40 teams. Everybody has 2-3 games that are set each year (Texas-OU, USC-ND, FLa-Fla St, etc) and otherwise everybody plays everbody once every few years - like NFL. Put them in divisions and division winners playoff...

I will say now that we never see two Heisman winners. WOuld be a rare guy that good who would even stay in school 4 years.
It is certainly too early to call this with any semblance of certainty but McCoy may very well be this kind of player. The next couple of years are sure to be interesting, to say the least.

Sun, I totally agree, it is extremely complicated.
And I don't know the answer. But there is no
effort being put forward by the powers that be
to enhance a situation that is BEGGING FOR
ENHANCEMENT. It is sitting on their doorstep
and they are blindly ignoring it. Kind of reminds me
of our politicians.

May as well get this off my chest to. The SEC and
Big 12 are fools for having a conferance champ.
game, when the other conf. only have to tippy-
toe thru their conf. and a few cupcake sleepers.

Rutgers would finish in the bottom of the big 12 with Baylor:mj07: You are absolutely crazy to think they win the Big 12Texas should win out and play for the BCS title. I believe in a playoff system would fix everything.

:mj07: Do you really believe this? Didn't Colorado lose to a division 11 school at home :scared

Why did I read that Jevan is taking snaps with the first team offense? http://sportsillustrated.cnn.com/2006/scorecard/11/10/truth.rumors.college/index.html :wtf:
Mack is being fair to his number one recruit by giving him a better resume. Snead will be transferring after this season as he has no chance to start for the Horns in the next three years. To read anything more into this is foolish. The fact that Brown made this public for a venue such as SI only reinforces this.

Judge is right. Snead is gone. Houston or TCU is where he is headed. Reagrdless the guy needs some snapsjust in case. Mack totally f'd up the Snead situation. Never gave him a chance and then didnt even give him snaps in blowouts. Kid knows he will never start and he has more talent than McCoy. If Mack isnt careful he may lose one of those 5 star QB commits he has right now too.

Not sure I agree with your take on all of this, Sun. Snead does indeed have tremedous talent but once McCoy went on a roll, Brown really had no choice but to run with the winner. I believe it was the right move and I also believe that Snead will flourish under Briles. Great fit for the Coogs, in my opinion.

20/20 it worked out for Mack. But he wasnt fair to Snead. I dont mean Snead should be starting now or it should have changed, but he blew a year of eligibility with handoffs in 3 games. My concern is the way he handled Snead is going to be used against him in recruiting....if you were a 5 star QB right now why would you sign with Texas knowing you will get no shot to start for the next 3 years?

Sometimes coaches have to make tough decisions. Before Brown could possibly have known what a talent Applewhite would be, he sat in Phil Simms living room and promised him that his son would be the starter at Texas if Chris relinquished his commitment to Tennessee. I have no doubt that Mack agonized over that commitment during many sleepless night but he lived up to his promise and that is what coaches have to do sometimes.

A strong recruiting coach is able to draw from his track record and Mack knows that Jevan has no chance to succeed at Texas. I am glad to see that he is paving the way for this guy's future because that is what the real coaches do. He is being fair to Snead now and that is what matters.

Have you heard anything about Brantley reconsidering ?

On that note, I don't like our chances of going to the NC this year.

I have ZERO doubt Texas would have the same record right now with Snead at QB. Not saying Mack should change ships of course, but it is wrong to say Jevan couldnt succeed,

And please tell me you arent one of those APplewhite worshipers. DId you like never winning conferences or hoping to get 9 wins in a season? Applewhite easnt a talent...Simms was and Mack and DAvis screwed him up. Plus I will never forgive Major missing the most important game of the year for a tummy ache...sack up...

Some smoke with Brantley but mostly dreaming from OU fans. Stoops wants to sell him on playing next year and Brantley wants to redhsirt. I theink the Tebow situation keeps him out of FLorida, and his dad has said many times he wont go to an SEC school.

I think Texas keeps Brantley. Snead transfers. Chiles is a bit more of a concern...
