If you concentrate on the tax rate going from 3 to 5.25%, you'd probably say "Meh, my state still charges more." If you throw around percentages like 75%, things sure start to sound dire.

You missed the point--I'll repeat--

Ill. faces 66 percent tax boost amid budget crisis

SPRINGFIELD, Ill. ? Democratic Illinois lawmakers beat a looming deadline and approved a 66 percent income-tax increase in a desperate bid to end the state's crippling budget crisis.
Legislative leaders rushed early Wednesday to pass the politically risky plan before a new General Assembly was sworn in at noon, taking a slice out of the Democratic majority and removing lame-duck lawmakers willing to support the tax before leaving office.
The rate increase might be the biggest any state has adopted in percentage terms while grappling with recent economic woes.

The proposal passed the House on Tuesday night 60-57, the bare minimum. No Republicans backed the measure there or in the Senate, where the measure passed 30-29.

"We're saying to the people of Illinois, 'For eight years we've overspent, now we're going to make it your problem,'" said Rep. Roger Eddy. "We're making up for our mistakes on your back."
++++++++++++++++++++++++++++

It's diff between liberal and conservative.

You can add to the above that they also raised corp taxes--which were already highest in the U.S.--a sane person would understand that is why they are not only losing business's but population--(They just lost another seat )

"During the past 10 years, over 727,150 people left our state, ranking Illinois third in the nation in net outmigration."
http://illinoisreview.typepad.com/i...-mon-leaving-illinois-to-live-like-kings.html

You and BBC make good money--can't understand your spend more/tax us more please logic and doubt you seriously think that way.

I would really like to see Bobby tell his clients that already have highest corp tax rate in nation and just got 66% increase on indv side- is because of Ill politicians being responsible--then after dropping that bomb and they are standing there with mouth open--pull out his obama sticker and say--"Yes we can"
Seriously- how many clients do you think he'd have left--

Wayne: 2 ways to look at this, IMO

1. We didn't have the guts to do the right thing before the election, so we'll do it after.

2. This is a necessary action that my successor should not have to do. I'm going to man up and take care of what needs to be done before I leave office.

The state legislature recognizes a problem and they are dealing with it. Where's the problem? I know the Right Wingers would sooner sink our economy than make anyone pay another dollar in taxes, but that is the difference between the two parties.

The Republican solution of DO NOTHING and watch the jobs spring up doesn't work! Somebody has to pay up and you know who gets to???? The people that voted them into office! How's that for mind blowing?!

I'm just making it up for the fun banter. I think we fundamentally differ on whether government is able to do good. I don't think you think that they can.

If you have a link to the article that you posted the chart from, I'd love to see it.

That's a valid point I didn't consider--if that was their intent.

I think all tax payors will agree--we need to work on less spending vs higher taxes from from both parties.

Okay, doggie. You can start by working in your homey state of Cain-Tukky, since you pay more taxes than in IL. Maybe if you work really hard, you can get your KY tax down as low as the proposed new IL rate.

LMAO at you.:00hour

I would expect Illinois tax revenue to decrease greatly which would equate to more tax increases.

Surrounding states are elated--Gov Scott has new slogan for business--Escape to Wisconsin
--and considering 2 year tax free for corps--
--and Quinns 50% increase on already highest in the nation-
-I see no way business's will not continue to leave Ill and at faster pace--and migration of population to increase also--netting even less tax revenue and expanding budget.

actions have consequences--ask Detroit
--and doubt there will be any federal bailouts/per Nov elections.

--but rather than argue bout it--we'll sit back and see.

I guess everyone will be selling their unsellable homes, taking new jobs that don't exist, and pulling their kids out of school to avoid paying that extra couple % in State Income Tax.

Who's feeding you this stuff?

We do that to - Businesses will be just fine

http://www.nwherald.com/2010/10/08/quinn-extends-tax-credits-to-us-cellular/a42rqyw/

http://www.siteselection.com/ssinsider/incentive/ti0106.htm

I think what's most shocking from all these reports is all of the small business owners saying that with the higher income taxes, they won't be able to higher anymore people.

Anyone who makes hiring decisions based on operating cash flow probably shouldn't be running a business, but that's just my opinion.

Wayne - do you not have the link for that chart above or are you just enjoying having me keep asking for it?

Like usual when u or Weasel spout off ur neo-con talking points people dig deeper and come up with facts that blow up ur ginned up nonsense. Lets examine a little. Illinios has the 5th largest economy in the US yet they are in the bottom 15 in state and local taxes and this is after the tax hike. 9 out of every 10 of these dollars goes to Schools, health care, and safety. If these taxes were not raised the state would have been in big trouble. Walkers state has a smaller corp tax but a 3 percent higher personal tax. Illinois would love to have Indy tax structure because it would bring in 11 billion dollars for the state and 13 billion if it had Wisky's. Again the fifth largest economy yet bottom 15 in tax rates. Since the salt treaty ginned up nonsense didn't last long lets hope we can now go to the next bullshit talking point for retards.

Hate to tell you Spongebob you--tramp trench and muffins-- you non tax payors can't escape them either. :)

Dem Cleo Tucker just introduced bill requiring license plates for bicycles--$10 a year $100 fine.

If you walk we'll tax your feet--if you sit we'll tax your seat---

Garry--I'll give you a $100 to put O sticker on your car for 1 year--seriously! :)

--or more spending-higher taxes:00hour --will do also.

I found where some of the numbers you're highlighting here came from since you won't post the link. Did you know that the numbers you're highlighting, the "rank" is the rank of your state's per capital income?

The citizens of the Commonwealth of Kentucky make $34,339, 47th in the nation ahead of only West Virginia, Arkansas and Mississippi and still have to pay more of a percentage of their measly incomes to the state. But you tried to make the chart look like you weren't paying much in taxes.

No wonder you didn't want to post a link. Geez Louise

Same old nonsense with him bobby. It goes down like this.
1. He wakes up, opens his emails, and runs to his new limbaugh talking points
2. Next with no research at all he post this nonsense thinking he knows something because he trust these sources like they are gospel.
3. A bunch of free loaders (that would be most of us) look at this nonsense and do some research on these post.
4. He then looks like an idiot for getting sucked into this type of game once again.
5. Seeing he looks like a fool he tries to change the subject reaching for anything he could but since he can't get talking points for his points he he vanishes from the thread
6. On to the next talking point and the same thing happens.
7. Stunningly he thinks we forgot about the other 10,000 misleading post.
8. Wash, rinse, repeat.

The link didn't come in the talking point so he would have had to look it up himself.

Tramp, u ever see Olberman show how these conservative frauds blow out their talking points like they all had the same idea? The latest one was where they all said Obama finally looked presidential with his speech the other night. It is pretty hilarious. He will march out about ten Republicans talking, an they all say the same garbage like it was their own thoughts. :0002. He cuts to them one by one all the same day with the same message :0002 It reminds me of Dog's here. He just doesn't know any better and runs with it. :142smilie Boy i hate using that word conservative. There is nothing conservative about these handjobs.
