Kansas City area for who knows how long....
I grew up a few hours away, where the hippies were less structured with rules, less earnestly egalitarian. Powell's bookstore, "largest independent new and used bookstore in the world" is one place I always visit. They have a big selection of gambling books. My favorite restaurant in the Pearl District there by Powell's is Paragon. Besides fine food, they have superb cocktails.

The brewpubs in Portland are some of the best in the US as they've been around there a long time.

If you have time, the worthwhile day trips are to Astoria, a large working fishing city on the coast with history. Or a drive up the Columbia Gorge, on the old highway, for scenery.

It is Jake's Crawfish. I took my gf there a few months ago. Good food.

If you want a steak though, its El Gaucho.

Flew into Portland about a year ago and then drove across the river to Vancouver, WA. Beautiful place this time of year. Weather was gorgeous when I was there. Very nice bars/restaraunts along the river.

definitely check out some of the microbrews of the area. Also the Portland City Grill was a cool place to eat if for the view alone.

Very true. I know my share of strippers. :)

didnt visit any of the strip clubs but I did really enjoy Deshutes :0074

been there 5-6 times now over 20 years and love everything but the weather... they have the BEST transit system in the US... awesome food... and you got mountains 1 hr east and ocean 1 hr west:0074

I rarely go to strip clubs anymore. I just know a few pretty well. They are nice to have around.

I grew up here so the weather doesn't bother me at all. Plus the beer is great. It blows me away when I travel and some bars have only Bud and Coors Light on tap.
