Some of us are only here to sharpen our debating and critical thinking skills. I scoured the net for years before finding a forum that offered the intellectual challenges presented by Tenzing, Raymond, Hedgehog, Keecko, Skulnik, etc. Since it is difficult to learn from the great ones by always agreeing with them, we've adopted an approach that helps us understand the issues from another point of view AND allows our intellectual superiors an opportunity to show us how to handle these liberal kooks.
Neither Eddie nor I are actually liberals. There, I said it....SORRY ED! We're only here to provoke the great ones and, in turn, learn from them.
Sir, please don't shut this forum down. When I get back from Midnight Mass, I hope to see this thread has been deleted and everything is back to normal.

I think this forum is a great representation of politics in general. The radical idiots from both sides get most of the attention. Then you have the liberals and conservatives who try spreading their agenda under the cloak of "I am a centrist". And finally you get very few moderates and even fewer true centrist that take part because of the hateful cycle. I too have had moments of weakness, but this forum seems like nothing more than a place for people to try and prove their intellectual superiority or their moral superiority. I agree however if you do away with it the general will only get worse.

The suggestion to help the site was to change the rankings of the forums as they are seen - not banish the forum all together.
IMHO, MadJacksports slogan at the top of the site is named "the number one handicapping forum on the web" and for new signups, old members coming back after an absence for a while and sponsors of the site who keep its existence should not be slapped with the current negative diatribe which daily exists at the top of the forum. Positive posts with which what the site was founded on should be more frequent. Sponsors like mentioned above will keep the site going with the main purpose of sports gambling, poker and sports handicapping.
I always thought the handicapping forums and contests forums should be front and center right at the top -- i will bring it up at the next board meeting as Jack mentioned.
Stay postive MadJackers -- we are entity as a whole, and not driven by personal agendas and the almighty individual attitude.

IE: Put us at the bottom, put us at the top. I don't think any of us give a crap. The fact is, you're not going to host a politics/religion forum and have everyone get along. We all think we're right, and that's not going to change any time soon.
Anyone that thinks it is just a board full of negativity lacks the passion that brings the regulars here. There is an educational angle that comes with debate, let's not forget that. If you can't handle an intellectual challenge to your viewpoint, stay away. There are people that don't belong in the debate, but they are welcome nonetheless. I've learned a lot in this forum, and it hasn't always been pretty, but it is what it is.
