Common Core standards are a divisive topic in education circles, but one Florida lawmaker is taking his anti-Common Core message to a new level.

State Rep. Charles Van Zant (R) said the American Institutes for Research, which has been assigned to develop Common Core-based tests for Florida, "are promoting as hard as they can, any youth that is interested in the LGBT agenda."

Van Zant made those comments at the Operation Education Conference in Orlando back in March. Video of his comments was posted on ThinkProgress on Monday.

"These people that will now receive $220 million from the state of Florida, unless this is stopped, will promote double-mindedness in state education and will attract every one of your children to become as homosexual as they possibly can," Van Zant said.

Van Zant concluded by telling the crowd, "I?m sorry to report that to you ... I really hate to believe that news, but you need to know."

on a side note: Who cares what beliefs, opinions, or comments anybody has about gays? (Michael Sam's kiss with bf included..) Everybody's got their own view, that's what makes the world (and Madjacks) colorful. The times are a changin' and that means good ole Michael Sam probably aint' gon' be the last footballa to be mackin on a skinny ass white boy..
With that said- people who attack and badger others based on their outlook (no matter how ignorant..) are really missing a great opportunity to "be the bigger person" or even come back with a more dignified argument stating why you disagree.
Food for thought... and now I'ma find me some food for belly.. Dr. Phil-in' it really works up my appetite

Might be wrong here, but I have a feelin' ole' Hedgie has been playin' this forum like a fiddle. Attention anyway you look at it is still attention and there's nobody better at getting themselves in the spotlight than Hedgehog. Others have tried and have failed miserably. But they pale in comparison. Hedge doesn't even have to look for the spotlight....it looks for him! He just keeps getting better at his craft. Seems he could care less what you say just as long as he makes you say it. Some posters follow him around like he's a celebrity. Like he really cares what people say. LOL! He's the Pied Piper of Madjacksports and he has quite a loyal following.

You may be correct. You can blow bubbles and light fireworks at a party too, or you can eat a handful of ecstasy and have sex in the pool. Food for thought.
