Has anyone tried doing this at home........

See people adding fruit to Vodka a lot even read a story about bacon added.....I've added cinnemond sticks/cloves/nutmeg to Rum and its come out pretty good.................

Last month I picked up a bottle of Cherry Moonshine that was really good. Just took the leftover jar of cherries and added a 750 bottle of Canadian Mist to it and letting it sit a couple of days (maybe)...................

My wife and I are in the process of making some limoncello. It's been sitting for a week as I type. I really like it because I can keep it in the freezer and just pour it in a glass and drink it straight. I use 100 proof vodka. I think by the time everthing is added it ends up being 80proof.

1 cup water
1 cup sugar

bring to boil and turn off

add as much mint as you like but, the more the better...i would suggest that you add alot and then, add some more ...stir in gently (should be fresh from the garden...you can use spearmint or peppermint or mix the two or use any type of mint)

cover and let it steep in the pot (no heat)

strain and add to vodka (750ml)

put in the freezer for a couple days

good for sipping...you can figure out i you want to use mixers but, it tastes great straight

fyi...usually drink Ketel One but, for this, you can buy a lower grade and it still tastes great (by lower grade I don't mean generic)

have fun

Thanks man, will be trying this as soon as I can find the fresh mint. Where?

:toast:

I'm a straight vodka guy and this sounds good.

I'm not crazy about sugar so can it be done without?

well since sugar was half of the ingredients ... I would think pretty important for his recipe :mj07:

Some people like sugar in coffee and I can't stand it. Kinda like ketchup on a hotdog. It'll probably work w/o sugar, just asking.

Where is the fresh mint, at the grocery store?

you know I am just busting on you

yes in the veggie section ... can usually find in those little air sealed platic containers ... you will have to go to an upscale store to find "fresh" mint :0008
