Talking with an election historian today who had the last one pegged, feels that Kerry could win by as many as 10 million votes and will still lose the electoral college.


So it appears that STRATEGERY goes out the window, and the value of a new system can never be misunderestimated

Heres another that surprised me. Kerry and what way Woman will go. Kerry 62% 36% GW 2% other. Clinton had these high numbers to. But no way did I think Kerry would. In fact here is a stange number well maybe. After Clintons BJ job and all the rath of god that came his way. Woman still would have voted for him 58%. Maybe it just shows our woman may be more ok With a couple BJ jobs. Then us strong god fearing men ever want to believe. Before BJ jobs however I must admitt story had his numbers over 62%. Of course the poller for CNBC did not use same words I did here. But didn't take much to understand point he was making

Considering demographics show almost 90% of blacks voted for Gore---were you expecting 100%

Considering that the 2 largest electorial states NY and Cal vote democrastic I would say "Your election historian" needs to find another field of endeavor.- as his analysis is contracticory of facts.

--and on to some other news Just after Kerry was whining to Oregon yesterday about cost of gas after voting for increase on gas taxes 11 times --today he pitches about high cost of health insurance and guess what industry represents his highest contibutions--you guessed it--- ATTORNEYS. :shrug:

Not so fast.. Yes 90 percent of the blacks that voted went for Gore. While there is no way to prove it, it is widely speculated that countless blacks stayed home because they did not like Lieberman.

Secondly the election historian I talked to is a college professor.
I agree Califoirnia and New york will go to kerry in landslide proportions and so does the Prof. That illustrates his point the blue states will be landslides, unfortunately their will be more red states. Most of the red states will be fairly close. Bush wins the electoral college and loses the popular vote huge. GET IT? Where was the contradiction?

I cant tell you the name of the dude sitting there spiling out these numbers on CNBC. I just caught part of it yesterday. Was doing some channel clkicking. When the guy said support by woman for Clinton. I thought he was talking Hillary. So I thought he was nuts. But then I caught more of the rest of the story as they say. Seemed fair and Balanced just like FOX.

seeing is believing ---- You'll get your 80% plus from minorities-gays and members of National org of Women again this year.
and considering the #'s increasing with certain groups approaching 70% of children born out of wedlock and considering the only other country in the world (netherlands) that has gay marriage had a huge migration of same to their country after it passed I expect the same here. So just hold tight you'll be invincible in about ten years.

To repeat what someone else already said, I KNOW that Bush got more votes than Gore...in the EC (the only place it matters with our system). You say that we know what you meant but did the pollers? If this question was worded on the poll like it is here then they would be right to say Bush received more votes. I think it is funny how the Dems want the Electoral College gone now that Bush won. Would you feel the same way if Gore would have won by the same methods. And please don't kid yourself by answering yes. The Electoral College has served this country well in years past. I don't see a huge need in spending millions of tax dollars to change it now.

You know maybe that old system should be thrown out. Just have a up and down vote and cut throug all the BS. Might even make them all a little more honest. Look at the crap going on now. They run around like there runing in a few states and Fu?? the rest. They take so much for granted. A real wake up call is needed.

Personally I wish they do away with electorial vote and do it on popular vote of poplulation--that pays taxes.

I agree with doing away with the electoral college, it is the most unfair voting system to elect anyone let alone the president.

How can a system be set up where voters from CA TX NY have more power with their vote than voters from VT NH NM.

Yes, I know if the popular vote was used we would be saying pres gore right now, but that is the fair way to vote, not a bias to large states in the electoral college.

I don't think the founding fathers came up with this, it had to be some politicians wanting an edge

CTG thats a very interesting point. We need some the real smart guys that no how to look that stuff up. See if that might be the case. Maybe I should say those who know a easy way and have the time. I do not remember if this was part of our constitution from the start.
DTB yes if you pay your taxes you vote not bad either. But if your getting real old and may not owe any. We would need a fix there.
DTB you really got me thinkng on this pay no tax. What about kids working part time for gollege. they pay taxes but get it all back. You have families where only one person works. There enough cash for say mother to stay home. How do we make sure she votes if he files seprate form.

Doing away with the electoral college would be lovely
