If I had a pile of money to invest, a good portion of it would definitely be going to Canadian farmland.

These far right backwards bible thumping assholes have set this country back a hundred years with their ridiculous backward stances on everything. We use to be first in everything now the only thing we are first in is to have just enuf voters to keep us from being first in anything. Stem cell, climate change, gun control, educations. You name it. Oh wait we are first in military spending. We spend as much as everyone combined :0074

We should ban cars.

I've said this a thousand times.

When I was a kid growing up in the Baltimore area, the lakes were frozen from mid December, or earlier, until mid March. ALLLL winter you could ice skake, play hockey, and ice fish. ALL WINTER!

Now the lakes don't get frozen enough to ice skate at all. EVER!

I'm talking back in the 60's and 70's.

Yeah, but still......

TIA

Nuff said.

yes,it`s all political......theres climate change...it`s constantly in a state of flux....but nobody knows whether there is succh a thing as agw....nobody knows man`s impact ct on the climate(and anybody that says they do is about as reliable as vince the sham-wow guy).....

Bingo.

It's undeniable that we are in a period of warming.

But...if you look back at climate over the eons, there are lots of warming periods, and lots of cooling periods. Hence my comment of microclimate and macroclimate. You have to look at the big picture.

The 'evidence' of global warming is weak at best. But...it would be incredibly foolish not to make changes in our fuel consumption, the way we live, etc. Because there is a good chance that its having an effect. And if it's not, we'll all still be better off with a healthier planet. Even if we are just in a warming period, there's no good reason not to make those changes. But to those who swear the research is there, it's really not. It could all be coincidental. What happened during all of the other warming periods over time? No cars or factories around then and we still had significant upticks in temperature, etc.

Britain and other European governments have been accused of underestimating the health risks from shipping pollution following research which shows that one giant container ship can emit almost the same amount of cancer and asthma-causing chemicals as 50m cars.

Confidential data from maritime industry insiders based on engine size and the quality of fuel typically used by ships and cars shows that just 15 of the world's biggest ships may now emit as much pollution as all the world's 760m cars. Low-grade ship bunker fuel (or fuel oil) has up to 2,000 times the sulphur content of diesel fuel used in US and European automobiles.

Man has been able to affect global warming maybe less than 50 years ? It is quite a short time from earth's perspective.
Worst pollution sources should be understood and action should be directed to those sources/countries. Using coal in industrial levels should be banned right away.
Price of electricity should be so low that it encourages car makers, transports and industries to move away from burning coal and oil.
