There are actually two messages here. The 1st is very
interesting, but the 2nd is absolutely astounding - and explains a lot.

A recent "Investor's Business Daily" article provided very interesting statistics from a survey by the United Nations International Health Organization.

Percentage of men and women who survived a cancer five years
after diagnosis:

U.S. 65%

England 46%

Canada 42%

Percentage of patients diagnosed with diabetes who received
treatment within six months:

U.S. 93%

England 15%

Canada 43%

Percentage of seniors needing hip replacement who received it
within six months:

U.S. 90%

England 15%

Canada 43%

Percentage referred to a medical specialist who see one within
one month:

U.S. 77%

England 40%

Canada 43%

Number of MRI scanners (a prime diagnostic tool) per million
people:

U.S. 71

England 14

Canada 18

Percentage of seniors (65+), with low income, who say they are
in "excellent health":

U.S. 12%

England 2%

Canada 6%

And now for the last statistic:

National Health Insurance?

U.S. NO

England YES

Canada YES

Interesting percentages, however the main one that is left out is the percentage of people who DONT GO TO THE DOCTOR and die of undiagnosed diseases because they cant afford health insurance and the medical bills:

US: 30%
England: 0%
Canada: 0%

Everything is great in the Ol'US as long as you have the money for the coverage.

Which is the point of myself and people who support Universal Health Care, what makes your Health so much more important than others, $$$$.

Kids have lost parents because of no coverage, parents have lost kids because of no coverage.

Dont worry Skulnik, these POOR LAZY people wont even be going to YOUR hospitols or Doctors, they will keep them in their own places, because heaven forbid you have to wait an extra week for a precautionary surgery or check-up to save the life of another.

Here is the deal, we are paying for it anyways. I would not think there would be that much difference in cost in universal health care cause those who obtain early treatment save a ton off $$$ over those who wait until its too late.. I would rather see people healthy and having a chance to survive. :00hour
