I have the old version of the iPod Nano, but the thing is on the fritz. The new iPod Nano looks goofy and I'm not sure I want it. Too much touch screen. The iPod Classic is kind of bulky, but I like the functionality. I use my iPod every day for podcasts and I can't work out without it. I have ruled out using my Droid X as the replacement, so I need to make a decision.

Any thoughts?

Get the older version of the nano on eBay - it is cheap and it is what you want.

You can get a 5th generation for a little over 200 bucks on amazon. I have a 4th generation and the wife has a 5th. Pretty much the same thing except the 5th has a radio tuner and a video camera. I think that is the last generation before they went to the little square touch screen thing. Ipod Touch is pretty sweet. Got a granddaughter one for Christmas but she has pretty much been grounded from it since then. Turns out they don't help you get better grades......:nono:

If I was going to get a new one, I would get the Touch......

Battery has no life, it is not compatible with iTunes, not compatible with my docking station/speaker system (use it every morning before work like a radio).

Asking bc I am moving into the smartphone big leagues. In info gathering mode at the moment:toast:

I was reading on the Droid forum and some people claim to use their X like an iPod using an app that works between iTunes and the X. They also claim to buy extra batteries, but I'm not interested in doing that. I really like my iPod and the battery life is phenomenal. iTunes is really easy to use and I'm constantly DLing new podcasts and deleting old ones.

I found a 5th Gen iPod on eBay and I have the highest bid ($150). There is a seller that sells them at their online store for $200ish with 16GB. My current iPod only has 4GB, and it is my only complaint since I have to manage that storage space closely.
