Long story short...other driver ran a red light and totaled our truck. Officer said he would be cited. I don't want blood, but want to make sure we are compesated fairly for the truck, ambulance ride/ medical bill to hospital, and work missed ( self-emplyed 1-2 days off depending how it goes tomorrow) etc.

Should I handle this through our insurance company or get an attorney?

All advice is welcome.

:toast: Thanks.

Ask your insurance company. Or, ask a lawyer, they don't charge you for these types of cases, they take a piece of the action only when they win. In Maryland it was 1/3.

I was stopped on a 50 MPH single lane road waiting for the car in front of me making a left hand turn. I was rear ended, car totaled(work car) luckily had my seat belt on. The bimbo gave the state trooper what I found out later was a invalid insurance card(they get the card then cancel the insurance). I refused the ambulance and went to personal doctor who told me to do home exercises.I had pins and needle feeling in left arm and neck pain. Called a lawyer the next day and sent me to a specialist and had an MRI done.Sure enough I hadc4/5 disc damage. Out of work for 3 months. Found out she had no insurance. Wound up filing an uninsured motorist claim.Settled 1 year later. I suggest you definitely get a lawyer.

I swear - you people. (Bobmac knows!)

Get an attorney.

You're not out for blood, but they may be. Money makes people fucking assholes in cases like this.

Do it!

Please for the love of all that is holy - get an attorney.

Get an attorney and negotiate a lower percentage. PI attorneys are a dime a dozen and this is a clear winner, as long as there is coverage on the other side. I'd say 20% would be fair. Also, DONT SIGN ANYTHING OR MAKE ANY STATEMENTS TO THE INSURANCE COMPANY ABOUT YOUR HEALTH. Things change over time and a decent PI attorney will want you to go to their doctor or a chiro.

What state?
