Is legalizing Bigamy the next step?

Rather than talk about the bigamy aspect or animals, has anyone considered the prospect of brothers and sisters or first cousins getting married? Not because of love, but due to the financial advantages that go with it, like insurance. You get a couple middle aged siblings and one of them needs insurance, what's to stop them from having the right to be married?

exactly, finally someone that has some sense to help me out

I was barren then hit menopause. Does your statement mean that I have no reason to be married?

I have friends who are in monogamous heterosexual relationships, i.e. marriage, who have had children who only bore the genetic imprint of one parent. These were people who wanted children and used another man's semen through artificial insemination in order to accomplish it. I also have lesbian friends who are in a monogamous relationship who have done the same thing.

The hetero couple has the protection of the law if one spouse decides to quit the relationship and wants the child(ren). The gay couple doesn't because of archaic laws and people such as yourself who feel the need to interfere in other peoples' lives because of their preference in the bedroom. Frankly, sex, while rewarding, is only a small part of a marriage.

I've seen many of the guys here at MJ's complain that there's no sex after marriage. While a joke, it has validity. In the day to day challenge of maintaining a marriage, particularly with children, sex is placed on the back burner for a time when both participants aren't too tired, too stressed or may be interrupted. I would assume it's the same for a gay couple.

Why is it such a big deal to those who can legally marry to prohibit those who can't?

Sorry for continuing this off-topic, so let me add this. If there are people who want to legally share their love, lives, investments, etc. with another, then there should be a union that allows for that. Honestly, I don't think I could handle another husband (or a wife, for that matter) but if my neighbor wants it, who am I to say "no"?? It's simply not my business.

saying isn't it the goal of marriage is to procreate was in reference to able couples in child bearing years,

marriage should only be between 1 man and 1 woman

you just can't reason with liberals

Sorry, I hadn't realized that Imfkhr spoke for EVERYONE at MJ's and that all had exactly the same opinion as him.

Since your the only one that didn't think his response was dead on, maybe you could continue the debate. It's dead in everyone else's eyes, but you go ahead and keep it going.

"the bunker"
overheard on divorce lawyer edward haskell`s answering machine after it became obvious that the courts are now "making the law",not enforcing it and gay marriage is a foregone conclusion.......

The goal of our genetic make up is to procreate. So, if we throw your ludicrous response out, what is the goal of marriage?

It does not affect me at all either way since I am married with a 3 year old daughter and a son on the way in less than a month, I am in the majority

The original question about bigamy, I still stand on the reason it is not mainstream is because the only issues that even get any play are the liberal issues like gay marriage, I knew better than to respond to this topic:sadwave:

Here
I for one can't wait for bigamy to be legalized. I mean having one husband was soooo much fun, I can't imagine how great two or three would be.

Julene how many can you support ? :0corn

i admit that i haven't followed this much & i haven't really thought this issue out but i suppose that as long as both parties walk up-right i don't care who marries who......i think i read or heard that the gay community want more than civil unions....so if that is the case...i have a question.....

why don't the gay community accept civil unions as a means of marriage...doesn't it mean that a justice of the peace marries (that's how i was married) the couple instead of a religious person ?

i would think that would be a way of compromising...

Very proud to be an Iowan right now as we are the 3rd state in the nation to legalize same sex marriages.

I would be embarrassed to be from Iowa if I were you

Thank GOD I live in Texas where marriage will always be only between 1 man and 1 woman

Here in California gay marriage has been defeated twice at the ballot box.....

The mayor of the 5th largest city in California and a local reverend who public campaigned against gay marriage started receiving death threats for voicing their opinions.....

The majority (at least in California) has spoken twice and they (the gays) are still fighting it....
