yea for once the espn hype-absorbing majority of bettors got squashed with okst, looked like a gift 7-1 team getting 16 pts it stunk, at least we know vegas is still honest, I was starting to think they like giving money away, being they continue to not inflate lines high enough against indiana and illinois

Rick Reilly had a column about Stoops in SI this week. 16-1 vs. Top 25 teams. Check that, 17-1 after today. That's just incredible. Seriously, just re-read that stat. Incredible. Best coach in America. And I don't even like OU.

you echo my exact sentiment on OU.
not a sooners fan. not a big 12 fan.
just respect good football and good coaches.
okie and stoops deserve the accolades.

of course okie will get backdoor covered by someone in the next few weeks and we'll hear the "OU is overrated" nonsense.

bottom line is this is a big time big-game program right now

hell, my teaser even got beat. this ou team when motivated is scary. if you look at the way they beat tx, who is not a bad team, you see an ou team that is clearly one of the best. too bad usc has one loss; i would love to see those two play. if miami keeps winning- will there be a better matchup ? who will ou play in the big 12 championship ? their def was sick today. jason white was the only player that could score on it.

completely agree that they are good, very good...but my concern is that their remaining schedule is weak, they won't face anybody of "substance" in the big 12 title game, and will get to murder a sub-par miami team (at least in regards to the last 2 years)...that will start the "one of the greatest teams ever" hype. I don't like OU but I think stoops could be one of the best coaches ever if he stuck around.

my only thing is that I don't think jason white is a heisman type guy. he is in a good system, that gives him time, and he can deliver to great receivers...that is my only "problem" with that team, be it small and barely noticeable...but just b/c I am a Texas fan I hope I don't have to hear that this "could be one of the best teams ever" crap...they are good, scary good...but best ever? please tell me I won't hear that mentioned come december and january! of course I only fear this b/c i think there might be some truth in it

i agree. definitely nowhere near the best ever. just very very good. some of the 90's versions of florida state and florida were awfully awfully good.

they posess the 3 qualities : they come to play w/class, they rarely make mental mistakes (from staff down), and they leave it on the field.... regardless if they win or cover, you can't ask for anymore as a gambler or as a ncaa fan.

After OSU beat Miami last year I am not ready to give anyone a title yet, but Okie looks like they will be tough to beat although the teams they are beating in the Big 12 are not that impressive. I still think there are 4 teams that could give them a game in the title game.

usc is the only team that deserves to be mentioned as a worthy opponent to oklahoma....period (and even thats stretching it)

to me:

elite:
oklahoma

knocking on the door:
southern cal

second tier of contenders:
ohio state
miami
michigan (yes, even w/2 losses thats a damn good team)
georgia

then:
florida state
lsu
virginia tech

So Cal was one of the four teams
the other 3 were LSU, Mich and FSU

Cant buy your second tier teams, OSU has a pathetic off, Mia way overrated I would rate FLA above them and Geo has too many injuries.

All four of the teams I rate with a chance to beat Okie have coaches whom IMO are equal to Stoops.

OSU had a pathetic offense last year, and they won the national title. If the Buckeyes run the table but USC gets in, there will be a lot of questions about this bullshit BCS system (I should note I think USC and Okie are the best teams in the country to avoid any accusations of being a homer).

If OSU runs the table and USC gts in why would there be a problem? Both teams have one loss but I think it's a mute point since I highly doubt OSU will run the table with MSU, PUR and Mich left on theschedule,

The reason for debate is that Ohio State is playing in a tougher conference than The Men of Troy.... If Ohio State runs the table, which I think they will until Michigan, then they better play their asses off, they will be in the title game. The only team that had the remaining schedule to compete with the Buckeyes was Georgia and they are gone. The funny thing to me is that all this talk about how Miami will not drop far. That is BULL CHIT! They not only lost....they got their asses handed to them! Then they acted like the gangsta's they are when they were getting beat. I think they embarrased their program last night. They should be dropped to 7 or 8 just like any other team that lost. When Ohio State lost a game, by a lot closer margin than Miami...they dropped a ton and had to work back up. Miami gets that "Miami treatment" I hate those gangsta's!

I would argue that USC has the best coaching staff in the nation. Look what Pete Carroll has done, and its only his 3rd year. Last year USC played the #1 toughest schedule (and USC had no depth whole year), and in last 2 years, USC has lost 3 games and 2 were in OT (all 3 losses were "mainly" because of our kicker). This last 2 years are rebuilding years for USC, and i make strong case USC was best team in nation last year and this year at least #2. Next 2 years were going to be USC NC runs and maybe every year from not on.

I agree OU is the #1 team in country, but i also don't think they have played anyone great. Texas is very talented team, but badly coached. Pete Carroll & staff is not Mack Brown and staff.

Has OU seen an offense like USC this year? USC has seen very good offenses all year and defenses "close" but not as great as OU's.

I might say OU is 7pts better than USC right now (mainly because USC DB's don't have my trust), but scary thing is USC has ton of ways to improve the rest of the year and Carrolls teams get better as the year goes on. Carroll is undefeated in NOVEMBER as a head coach

Also, White would get his ass knocked down by the awesome USC DL. Something that has not happened to him all year. Can he take some major hits?

I wish there was a playoff system to be fair to FSU, LSU, OHIO ST, Miami because it sucked that USC was the best team in nation last year and did not get chance to show it. @ USC we take pride in playing tough schedules and even though it cost us a NC, we rather play the best to get there.

Hey Horns....I think this could be one of the best teams ever in College Football!! He He.

I'm a Homer, yes. But I am also very proud! After watching VTech get beat by W.Virginia last week and then Miami get manhandled last night, I don't know WHO out there can play with this team. Ohio State....no way!

USC has the best next group of talent in the country. They are the only ones who have shown anything! But even they stumbled against a poor team in California.

I think the Big Twelve north will be won by KState. If that happens, then the Big 12 game will be interesting since it is played in Kansas City this year. Went to the 2000 Big 12 game and it was about 2/3 KState fans. Chiefs ticket holders have first rights and they DID NOT sell to OU fans.

If Nebraska wins the North, it will be a very low rated affair watched by only OU and Nebraska fans and the people that laid 20 points on OU.

I watch all the games like you guys, but nothing has compared to what I have seen by OU.
