Currently, it costs about 1.8 cents to make a penny and nearly 9 cents to produce a nickel. The government is considering cheaper metals to bring the cost of making coins down.

how bout just eliminating pennies, nickels, dimes. nothing costs 7 cents why not just go up in increments of 25 cents?
get rid of pennies and nickels go to only dimes and quarters...

How is that possible? There is no one out there looking to fix it. Only to get their hands into the collection plate.
Not sure why we'd have to totally get rid of pennies and nickels. Stop making them would make more sense. It's not like there's a shortage. :shrug:

YEAH get rid of the penny, after all a Morgan dollar is worth over $18 paper dollars, and the melt value of 100 pre-1982 pennies equals $2.54 in paper.

The only way cash money disappears is if they legalize all drugs, which will never, and should never happen. Pot should have never been illegal. Not a smoker, but just sayin'.
Too many hands in the cookie jar for the drug trade which aren't going to be able to pay for it with credit cards.............There are many folks now that no longer have a credit card. The debit cards ( which I have never had ) are fine and dandy now, but what happens when the banks have another scare.

At one time - our US Government was going to hire K-fed (Britney Spears ex-husband) to be the spokesperson for an effort to collectively get citizens on board for eliminating the penny from US currency. You cannot make this shit up. Really fucking weird.
