The O/U here was set at 6 :scared what were these local guys thinking. We netted 8 last time out.....
It was a beautiful night. On our 1st Ocean side flat (2 foot depth) at midnight, one good sign, a 5 ft. lemon shark was cruising for lobster, two bad signs, algae bloom was full blown & the tide was coming in....visibility was poor. Not looking good for the guys who drew the double digit numbers.
There wasn't much boat traffic and not a lobster in sight, water was too cloudy, the Moon was just starting to rise, so we moved Bay side after about an hour. Over numbers were now in trouble.
Went to the area we had our best luck last time out...conditions were worse than Ocean side. Baracuda's, Tarpon or Sharks were after Mullet fish. They were jumping everywhere and stirring the mud to save there arses. Couldn't see in a foot and half of water. Netted a 12 inch needle fish, they don't count, no good for anything, tossed it back, cuda's like 'em.
The under is looking good......:142smilie
Move to another spot bay side....BINGO! Net our first lobster...but it was a short. The body (carapace) has to be 3 inches, use a metal measuring tool between the eyes and back over the body. Shorts don't count, can't keep 'em, back in the water for the lucky lobster.
Another short and the under is getting stronger!!! Back Ocean side, tide is in, bay side again..still cloudy....oh well...That's why they call it fishin' and not catchin'...
THE WINNER IS.....
:00hour :00hour :00hour
Dunclock, zero was our catch. A bad day on the water is better than a bad day at work. :142smilie
Get my e-mail from Jack and I'll send out your Koozie...Title your e-mail to me...MJ Lobster Pool.
Back at the dock for a few brews & fish stories by Captain Jeff. Charter fishes for a living, has the eyesight of a hawk. He's leaving next week for 3 months to Costa Rica, not sure if we'll go out again early next week. Said he'd take me out night fishin' when he gets back.
Thanks to all that particpated and read the threads.
