I've got pop-up trouble...could this be a virus?

Seemed to start after a limewire session so I'm not sure if I got funked or what.

Been using Ad-Aware for years (thanks to this site) but there's some shit it's not catching. Even have my internet privacy settings--pop-up blocker--set to maximum.

My Ad-Aware is 6.0..maybe there's a newer version.

Anyway, this is pissing me off and I'd like to clear it up.

Two other comp problems started around the same time, which may provide more info:

1) when I open Internet Explorer, about 50% of the time it opens WITHOUT any toolbars at the top...if I close and re-open it opens okay.

2) only at Madjack's, it seems, when type stuff on the keyboard, for a thread, it keeps eliminating some characters that I've typed, as if too slow or something (i.e. typing too fast).

Not sure if related, or not.
Might do a trend microsystems on-line scan tonight as my Norton's is about 4 years out-dated (i.e. no updates).

This is goofy.
Please help if you can.

I'm careful with what I download.
Got a virus a couple years back but smited it easily.

This bitch is getting worse, not better.

AND, it appears that trend microsystems either isn't offering its free service anymore OR some B.S. on my system is blocking the application.

Gonna smash this focker soon.

Figured out the problem with Trend--having pop-up blocker security at maximum was the problem...also can't even open the smilies list with it at maximum.

Hope this scan finds something.
My friend tells me could be a registry funk.

I only run limewire when I've got nothing else happening on my comp.

Thought of something else. I've only ever had problems with VIDEOS from limewire--never mp3's--and I scored a couple short videos recently. Still on my comp. Not sure if deleting them would help or not...doubt it. Some bloody infection, no doubt.

The most common pop-up is that B.S. one about your comp being infected--scan now!--scan NOW!!

What freakin' clowns think they can make any sales with such B.S. Internet crime, as far as I'm concerned.

Running Trend...will be done within the hour.
See if it catches anything.
Might run a Norton scan, too, despite being out-of-date.

Not sure what those link are you posted, Matt, but imagine they're alternate scanners. Might need a registry scanner...no f'en clue, really.

Cleared up, it seemed, after running Trend's scan.
#^#!$^ bitch is funked again, however.

Any actually useful suggestions out there?
Any good sites that help you edit your registry, e.g.?

I'll check out kanuck' links but I'm running this Trend shit again to see if it finds the same shit.
If so, then it's a registry problem.
I think.

No problems now for a whopping 20 minutes or so.
Mr. Fix-It, here, came up with the brilliant idea of deleting my cookies.
What a computer geek, aye?
That solves it and I'm writing a book.

As if.

Used to know computers real well, before the real ones came along.

I'd pay good money for a cage match with any tool that spreads this spyware bullshit.
Internet crime, IMO.
Bastages.
