Maybe the start of a trend, but I wouldn't read too much into this. Ivy league sports - especially football - are largely an afterthought for those institutions and really only have meaning for the alumni (and us degenerate gamblers of course). If there already weren't going to be fans in attendance, there was little incentive to play the season.

In 3 weeks I think we'll know for sure. If baseball starts as planned on the 24th and the NBA and NHL follow - I think college and pro football will be a lock. If the plug gets pulled on one, I think the other 2 dominoes fall quickly (just as they did in March) and then any major sports before a vaccine becomes unlikely.

Sports like basketball and tennis which are "Spring Sports" are screwed over with this decision as well. Tennis and basketball play in the Spring and the Fall, so yep they are suspended (sort of) as well.

There are some DII and DIII Conferences suspending Fall sports, I am sure there will be a couple more DI Conferences joining the IVY on their decision to suspend sports.

Bottom line, men's sports (not including football and basketball) at the NCAA and NAIA level are going to get cut like crazy in the coming year, sad very sad:cry:

Basically, 2020 will not have team sports.

:sadwave:

The NRL and Super Rugby have been going strong for weeks, some teams have had 40,000 fans in the seats cheering on their team.

You see.....other countries out there didn't believe the virus was a hoax, hence why some can have fans in the seats and shit.

Plenty of team sports at the highest level going on right now, just not much in the USA.

This isnt about the rest of the World. It's about sports in the US.

Radio here in Atlanta, Greg Mcgarrity UGA Athletic Director just said they will try to decide about SEC football by July 31st/Aug 1st. Said if cases stay like this it will be bleak. UGH!

I feel fairly sure that football will either be pushed to the spring or cancelled all together for college.

If cancelled, it's going to be a long 13 to 14 month wait before football is played again; and that's just from right now.
