Horns,

That is cool. I don't hold grudges or anything like that and I would guess you don't, either. I enjoy handicapping (probably too much) and I enjoy keeping up the page when I have time. Raymond's story was a whole other issue.

The one thing I have always maintained is that I try to stay objective. It is really, really hard sometimes when something negative happens that pertains either to a Madjacker that I like as a person or to the site and its sponsors. I just always try to remind myself that if I misrepresent the facts then eventually people who read what I write will cease trusting me and what I write won't matter anyway.

On the subject of getting paid, I did get $100 per sportsbook review back in 2000 when Jack had that offer and Sirbet did open a $100 dummy account for me to play around with so that I could test their site and software for my most recent review.

what a f-cking joke!! :thefinger I didn't know a bettor was required to bet a number of games when opening an account, as long as your losing it's ok, screw that, that's bullshit.

I would advise all mjackers to withdraw their $$$ from that shit book, before they pull an Ace's Gold on you. Sorry jack for trashes one of your sponsers, but that's crap, and the explanations he gave are even worse.:flush

If you want to delete this thread I understand.......I don't want to cause a bunch of crap.....I just would like to know that's all......because for me personally I would never open an account with a book that did what BestLine did.
I don't delete threads and you did cause a "bunch of crap" :D
no problem, that's what the forum is for. I mean that!

Nick, pretty much, said it best right here:

To me, a little incident is something that doesn't really affect the type of people who play at Mad Jack's. What it boils down to is that a sharp player had $727 in bonus winnings stolen from him. Most likely this player's modus operandi is that he scopes out books that offer large bonuses, he places one large bet on one side of a game there and another large bet on the other side of the game at another book where he is already funded and he skims the bonus off the top. Using this player's example:

Deposit $2500 at Best Line and $2900 at Book X.

Bet 3250/2954 on one side at Best Line and 2900/2636 at Book X.

If you win at Book X, you now have 5536 from 5400 in deposits (136 in free money). If you win at Best Line, you withdraw 2954 in winnings (giving you 54 in free money) and you still have your original 2500 deposit in Best Line to play with.

EDIT: I forgot to add that with reduced juice being so common nowadays, you can easily get 2710 back on that 2900 bet at -107, making this plan all the more inviting.

This may very well not be what the player was trying, but whether he was or not, he obviously is known to sportsbook managers. I would say almost none of us Madjackers are known to sportsbook managers as a threat so that means that this is an incident that realistically isn't going to affect us if we were to play at Best Line.

A major incident would be something that would affect all of us. Slow pays, no pays, odds rigging, hidden policies that hurt the average player, etc. For example, Infinity's policy that if a player wagers both sides of a game all *winning* wagers on that game are cancelled would be a major incident to me. If you want to just do something like hedge a parlay or even if you just accidentally bet the wrong side and want to buy it back, Infinity's policy could result in the book allowing the losing side to stand while cancelling the winning wager. That is something major in my opinion because it could easily affect any of us.

PLEASE READ THE ITALICS 10 TIMES IF YOU HAVE TO BECAUSE NICK SUMMED IT UP VERY WELL.

Bonuses are not set up so people can take advantage of them. A bonus is given to reward a player that comes to play.

If EVERYBODY played the game as outlined above by Nick, it really wouldn't be fair to the books, so the books have to watch out.

Apparently, the player was flagged as a sharp "BONUS WHORE" and BLS didn't want anything to do with him. What's so hard to understand about that? It's basically cheating.

NONE of us know what the conversation was between the player and Magnum and we haven't heard from Magnum yet.

I'll get the details and report back as soon as I find out.

Remember, there are TWO sides to the story and we've only heard one side.

As far as books not wanting steam players. Think about it. If all they had were steam players, they would only have one sided action. No book is in business for one sided action. They would get KILLED.

Please post all comments in the other thread because I'm not going to bounce back and forth between two threads in two different forums.

We'll get all the details as soon as possible.
