It pays to take into consideration the hype. When a young man gets this much hype, the question is how he handles it. It sounds like Johnny Football isn't handling it very well, which isn't surprising considering his youth and the unprecedented accomplishments and hype he has had. You have to wonder if his (lack of) preparation and focus will play a part tonight.

The guy is young and has had a lot going on, parties, late night tv, etc.. BUT I think when it comes down to it and he puts that uniform on he will be focussed and lead the team to victory. This is just my opinion..

Btw been following your picks, especially college hoops.. Well done sir, keep the dank lit.

Good luck to whoever you go with tonight. :0008

Ive heard the same thing, CG. From a well connected alum.

Interesting but at the same time......tells you something that connected people are letting it out of the bag and not protecting him too much. Look, the kid was in trouble with the law more than once this summer but it only got reported once because the Ath. Dept. threatened to take away 2 local affiliates accreditation for football if they went with their stories on Manziel. They wanted to go with a story but it got covered up by everyone from the football offices to the Ath. Dept. to the campus police, sad but true.

Would love to hear what else you are hearing. PM is you have a second!

If it doesnt bite him in the ass tonight, down the road it will.........it never fails!

Seriously, Jord? "Johnny Football" has got to be the gayest, lamest nickname I've ever heard. If I were Manziel, I would beg people to stop calling me that because it's so embarrassing.

The name makes me think of some little kid in one of those cheap Hutch football outfits. :mj07: :142smilie

Really nothing more specific than he lives in premium puss, likes to drink and party, and is a bit full of himself.

So basically, living the dream. :142smilie

I see, makes sense. I hear ya on how he is full himself.....been told that a few in the adminstration had a sit down with him and to represent the school better off the field as he had blown off people at various places when asked to sign things.

I think its one of the best nicknames ever in football ... and he earned it :0074

they lost 2 early games ... guy is a freshman so they hadnt turned him loose as he did as the season went on ... you think Fla and LSU want to play him again

saw him in person beat my Crimson Tide and I have been going to Bama games since the 60s ... Cam, Bo and Johnny Football are the 3 best I have seen come into Bama and play live

I am interested in how he will do tonight after the layoff and winning the Heisman and all the accolades and distractions

The win at Alabama was impressive. Not discounting that. BUT other than the Bama game, who has A&M beaten that is worth a damn? No one! The only prolific offense they faced this year was La Tech, and they gave up 57 to them. I expect OU to put 40+ on aggy tonight. Game should soar over the total. :0074

Its a cool name. When I first heard the name early on I thought who the hell would have the stones to get a nickname like that. A heisman trophy winner I guess.

I actually think its a great nick-name t00. I also thought Johnny Utah was cool as well, what can I say. I am hoping tonight his name is Johnny Turf-Face. :scared

he may fail tonite..but nobody who has watched the kid play would ever believe it would be because of lack of effort or prep..

not hard to tell the kid has been ..."Johnny Football" since the first time all the other 10 year olds in the state couldn't stop him from picking up first downs..

of course there will be those who equate what could be instead of what has been..
