my wife hated it.

and, man. sissy spacek(sp?) doesn't look too hot at all. i mean, she never was really gorgeous or anything but man.......age isn't doing her any favors.

My wife like that boring piece of crap.

Beautiful write up in this month's Esquire about why "Shallow Hal" was better than "In The Bedroom". The guy really ripped Spacek's acting job apart, too.

Well, I guess I need to punch my guy-card at the door. I liked "In the Bedroom". I didn't know it was billed as a thriller, and wouldn't have myself. I thought the father in the movie was a great actor. It wasn't your normal American big budget here's everything you need to know kind of movie.

I feel that if you like independent films, you have a chance of liking this movie.

IMO, the movie was about heratbreak and dealing with a major loss. In no way a thriller. The mood of the movie was very slow, but I thought that is what they were going for because the characters were supposed to be in a state of depression.

Maybe it just caught me on a day that I would have liked any movie, but I thought it was worth watching. With saying that, noone needs to ruch to the theater and see it because that atmosphere adds nothing to it.

it would not be a complete waste if you spent 2 hours watching it on HBO.

now that I think back, I do remember thinking that it lasted too long. But overall it was okay, and I have seen much worse.

it didn't 'sound' like much but i got hooked on the 'thriller' part. i guess i was expecting more than i got. 'thriller' is was not. i agree the father did an excellent job playing the part. spacek's performance left much to be desired, IMO.

Thriller and Drama
2 hr. 10 min. Matt Fowler is a doctor practicing in his native Maine and is married to New York born Ruth, a choral music teacher. Their only child, Frank is home from school for the summer, working part time as a lobsterman to earn money for graduate school in the fall. He's also involved in a love affair with a local single mother, which throws his parents for a loop. As the beauty of Maine's brief and fleeting summer comes to an end, these characters find themselves in the midst of unimaginable tragedy.
MPAA Rating: R for some violence and language.

Jack....(lol)...I know that they went to see the movie because I drove them to the cineplex & friend's husband & I went to see John Q.Since I had car keys they were stuck seeing that movie.Unless something happened in the theater(lol) they were stuck.I was disappointed in John Q.I am big Denzel fan but were disappointed in it.Very predictable.I have not been a fan of Sissy, don't think I have ever seen any of her movies other than Carrie. Was not impressed with her acting.

So I guess you would not vote for In The Bedroom as best picture.I have seen a few of the movies nominated. My favorite was Lord of the Rings which after a slow start got my interest which surprises me since I usually don't like this type of movie.I also liked A Beautiful Mind.Russell Crowe did a great job & for me was an interesting movie.Although Nicole Kidman is great to look at I was not crazy about Moulan Rouge.Enjoyed the soundtrack though. If you thought Bedroom was boring don't see Gosford Park.I only went to see this movie because my wife bribed me with a free dinner at a favorite restaurant(I can be bought). This movie was one of the most boring movie I have seen in quite awhile.I kept falling asleep.Watching paint dry is more exciting than this movie.Don't understand why this movie was nominated while a movie like Momento was not.If you have not seen Momento make sure to see it.My advice is to pay attention.

Glad to see some people like movies as much as me.To me it is a good way of relaxing.

Well, if it was slow and drawn out, they did a good job of capturing life in Maine.
Was actually going to go see it because it was filmed in my hometown, but now I will probably wait for video or HBO.

Did you notice the two weird sports references in the movie. The RedSox radio replays were against NL teams and didn't the accompliance of the father have a striking resemblance to George Steinbrenner?
P.S. Jack the movie went for two and a half hours. My butt was killing me too.
