Kansas, which was unranked until last month, has not just been beating opponents, but whipping them soundly. Kansas leads the Big 12 in scoring offense, tallying 504 points in its 11 games against 156 points by opponents for an average margin of 32 points.

The team's success on the field has repeatedly sold out the university's 50,000-seat stadium and brought the college town millions of dollars in fresh spending from frenzied fans, according to tourism officials.

"We're so pumped up about our team," said 20-year-old sophomore Karen Gugler, who on Saturday joined two friends for the Iowa State game where a sea of crimson-and-blue Jayhawk T-shirt-clad fans swayed and chanted in the crisp autumn air.

Home cooking should help Kansas.

Thinking about slipping the refs some cabbage on this game.

I like Kansas as well. Both offenses are about even IMO, but KU has a much better defense, which will be the difference in the game.

Scott, are you a mod on here?

Kansas will have a slight home-field advantage. The game was sold as part of KU's season ticket package, so those tickets will be held by KU folks. The Chiefs season ticket holders were able to buy their own seats, so those tickets will be divided between the two schools.

Missouri wold a bunch of tickets, too. I expect the crowd to be 2/3 Kansas.

Chops

Glad you can be honest and keep things in perspective with this game. Never good to bet with your heart.

Would you say this a bigger rivalry than Georgia Vs Georgia Tech. Here in Georgia it accounts for more name calling and banter than any other game played in Georgia. Tech is nerds and Georgia are dumb asses , on and on.

Gotta love college football rivalrys.

I have been looking at alot of games this past two days and I find none that I like more than the
Kansas / Miss game tonight.

I knew Hawaii was going to play strong and Colt Brennen on that field in Hawaii is really unstoppable.

I have considered playing Georgia Vs Tech and I still may depending on how Tenn starts the game
with Kentucky. Hoping for a Kentucky win in that one , which would help the Dogs play LSU for the SEC championship. Its not so important now that LSU lost though.

I like Florida St and the points but just cant pull the trigger on that one yet.

Alot of good games on today. Do we really need a playoff system with all the scenarios we have had this year in college ball ?

Only one thing left to say this morning.

Rock Chalk fawking Jay Hawks :00hour

Brown's injury diminishes MU football team's win

L.G. PATTERSON/The Associated Press
Pig Brown (13) is lifted off the turf after getting injured In the Missouri football team's game against Iowa State on Saturday.

COLUMBIA ? While the Missouri football team won on Saturday against Iowa State, the player they lost could be what the team remembers most when looking back at the game.

Tigers captain safety Pig Brown ruptured his right Achilles tendon with a little more than three minutes left in the game. The injury occurred on a 16-yard screen pass to Cyclones running back Alexander Robinson during which Brown made no contact with anyone.

With a towel over his face and his right leg stabilized. Brown?s teammates hoped for the best just moments after the game with his prognosis still pending.

?We?re talking about a guy who plays his heart out with everything he has,? linebacker Brock Christopher said. ?He puts a lot into this.?

There is no way to overstate Brown?s importance to the Tiger defense and team in general. Brown made his way onto the national stage with a clutch defensive performance in the season opener against Illinois, recovering three Illini turnovers that ultimately saved the game for the Tigers. He received his second Big 12 Conference Defensive Player of the Week award last week for his 14-tackle performance against Texas Tech on Oct. 20.

Last year, the Tigers lost defensive leader Brian Smith to a broken hip at the same point in the season and never seemed to recover. Smith?s 9.5 sacks were key in that team?s 7-1 start and were not easily replaced. The Tigers finished the season 8-5.

After the game, Lorenzo Williams and Will Franklin became visibly upset after comforting Brown, who many consider the emotional leader of the team.

?It hurts but people are going to have to step up to take his place,? Williams said

Looks like MU has played the tougher Big 12 teams better overall (KU didn't face Oklahoma, MU's only loss), and KU allows quite a few more yards on the road then at home. The ticket angle about more fans being from Kansas will help, but it can't really be better than playing at home, can it? Just seems to me that the Tigers are better suited to perform well on the road, having beaten (convincingly) Kansas State, Colorado and Mississippi away. Kansas, on the other hand, has these road results: KSt by 6, Colorado by 5, A&M by 8 and a decent win over Okie State by 15.

Seems to me that MU coming in to a fairly favorable road game in a venue like Arrowhead with plenty of their own fans - as an underdog - with so much on the line, as well as they have played in road games...they look pretty strong in this spot. VERY bright lights on Kansas tonight...maybe more than they are actually ready for, I don't know. Would be a great win for either team. Looking forward to watching it - best of luck to all you guys with your wagers.

Third downs cause trouble for Tiger defense
By JOSH MOSLEY/MISSOURIAN

October 27, 2007 | 8:09 p.m. CST

COLUMBIA ? A defense wants to be on the field for just three plays. Three plays lead to a punt. Punts put the offense back on the field with the opportunity to put more points on the board and help keep the defense fresh.

This isn?t a new concern for this team. An inspired defensive effort has been the story of the conference season for the Tigers, yet they have been frequently exploited on third-down plays. Tiger opponents convert third downs on Missouri 42 percent of the time. The one-win Cyclones continued the trend by converting 11 of 20 third downs.:scared

They Cyclones controlled the ball in large part because of those conversions. Several Iowa State drives were prolonged by more than one third down conversion to keep possession. A methodical rushing game, along with a school-record 33 completions by Cyclone quarterback Brett Meyer, kept the ball in Iowa State?s possession for over 38 minutes.

The letdowns were not the kind that players and coaches could fix by drawing up some adjustments. Iowa State was within three points of the Tiger lead toward the end of the second quarter.

After the game, the Tigers found their effort a little disconcerting.

?I wouldn?t say we were discouraged, just disappointed,? linebacker Brock Christopher said. ?We know we were better than that to keep them off the field, but it?s just frustrating as a defense.?:SIB

Going back as far as the Oklahoma loss, players, such as Weatherspoon, have been all too aware of the tendency to give up sizeable third down yardage. In fact, the Cyclones had a third-down conversion on every drive but three.:00hour

?It isn?t adjustments that needed to be made, just plays that need to be made,? Christopher said. ?It?s up to us to make those plays.?:SIB
....................................................................

Any defense that has trouble with third down conversions is going to play hell with Kansas tonight. Take pig out and its worse.
