Kentucky Derby 2018

Just to start off - Warning, I ain't familiar with any of these cream of the crop 3 yr. olds and haven't had any success finding a Kentucky Derby wiener in quite some time. BUT, I did use my most comprehensive capping methods in trying to figure out this 1000 piece puzzle.

For Philly, I get my figures/plicks and then check some cappers selections afterwards to see if I missed something. I almost always play the figures I come up with, not theirs. Today's Derby is a great example of this. The consensus out there is that Justify is a cinch today and I ain't feeling it one bit. Still, I wouldn't be surprised if he wins by open lengths. But, without knowing anything at all about these 3 yr. olds - my first intentions are to throw out the favorite in a race like this. We all know the reasons (now) supporting why not to bet Justify and considering them vs. the reason(s) we should bet this favorite which, IMO, is only ONE spectacular race to his credit and possibly the jockey/trainer. They aren't enough for me to put that one in the Wieners Circle. F'rinstance, what has he down away from ONE twack in Cal?, against a field of 20, as a 2 yr. old? And there's even more like how how is he gonna do fighting the other speedsters and there's quite a few of them and (2) will he face some traffic before getting to them IF HE Does. You might consider what the 19 other jocks may do about their dilemma facing him with such a BIG payday today? Anybody here remember Spectacular Bid? If I remember correctly, I think that horse had this problem way back when Franklin has something to say about :cursin: them after that race.

After plenty of hours with this handicapping "project", perhaps all for naught - here's what I gots which are not in the order of preference:

Three plicks cause can you can bet 3, win only, and still make it all worhwhile... . .
No.5 Audible 6/1 M.L.
No.6 Good Magic 12/1 M.L.
No.11 Bolt d' Oro 8/1 M.L. OR No.16 Magnum Moon 6/1 - sorry, I have to see how these two look and their odds before picking ONE of them. I think both of these may go off at similar odds.

OR

Just play the fun part, These two BOMBERS were really in my top section of plicks. Hey, Donald Trump won the Pres. Election, right?:
No.17 Solomini and No.15 Instilled Regard. I AM thinking about skipping the above bets and go with BOTH of these for W/Pl/Show(at 3x). I do have a preference between these two, it's the latter. Still, no way I'll leave the no. 17 out.

Visitors who read my stuff know about the "Zackta SYS". It has come through picking some VERY NICE exactas at good ole Philly. Here's it's Derby exacta plicks:

5,7 top/bot with 5,6,7,12. You know somthing? - I'm really liking that 5,7 on one side of the zackta, not so much the 5,6,7,12 on the other. I just might use the 5,7 on one side of the zackta bets and change some on the other side. I CAN TELLYAS THAT THE 17 AND THE 15 WILL BE TWO OF THE NOS. ON THE OTHER SIDE.

Lastly, there are two dang downsides to the Derby this year. One is Justify catching the post pos. he got. For exotic players, buying a hand full of tickets makes plenty of sense in a race like this and especially if I'm right about the no. 7 not getting the Win spot. But, each additional horse you add to your tickets begins to make the bet size ($) too big. That leads us to the other BIGGER downside ---> that there Mendellssohn hoss. Where the hell does that one go in the puzzle anyway? :banghead:

I'll be watching the Philly dirt bags today and may post a best bet of the day for Philly later.

Good Luck with the BIG GUNS in the Derby. I'm looking forward to watching it. too.

I know these kinda things happen to all hossplayers... but, I gotta think that the absolute WORST case of this crap happens to me WAY the fluck too often. Yesterday's Derby takes the cake with this crap.

I took the exact route for the Derby plays and also made another "off the wall", silly side bet ($3 Win/Place) on three horses, two of which I mentioned in my post. One of them was Good Magic so that Place payout got me back most of the cost of those tickets. The exactas followed what I posted here, that is - 5,7 top n bottom w. 5,6,15,17.

Thanks to the generous exacta payoff, I actually came out ahead (several bags of peanuts) even with only a stinkin dollar on the zacks. I wrote here with Skoda about our exacta plays too often had the trifecta if we just turned them into TRIFECTA bets. Those things leave a not-so-nice taste.

I had a pretty good day at two twacks yesterday but that sour taste sure hit me when I noticed something.. you see it?

Ok, ok... the Superfecta! And even a tightwad bettor like me could have afforded stinkin 1 dollar Superfecta bets on those nos. Sometimes it's fun to play "pretend" but when we're talkin a return of $19,618.20 :0034 for that ONE STINKIN DOLLAR - I ain't laughing.

BTW, anybody notice how that no. 15, Instilled Regard, at 85/1 ran that race? He was SEVENTEENTH all the way to up to 3/4s of that race and was gaining on the 2nd and 3rd horses in deep stretch. I believe he woulda caught up with them a short distance after the wire. And that's even with whatever MUD he was wearing/carrying at the finish line..

Maybe using that one in the Belmont after Justify wins the Preakness? I probably will if he is entered, BUT very often , those types "bounce" after an effort like that.

Oh, how did the no. 15 do? Ah, he didn't do poopies.

Seeyas at Philly.

Just might not be such a bad thing ;)

Just might not be such a bad thing ;)

At least, you're chasing all the Visitors (free-loaders) away, Skod.

Try opening your own thread and I'll visit you every once in awhile ... your post are making me "wonder" about you.

EDITED: you play Finger Lakes?. DON'T DO IT cause you'll get creamed there.

STILL, Good Luck to ya.

Some good news "from" Philly

Some good news "from" Philly

Not posting, thread is a mess. BUT-

I was down $36 after the 7th and did something that I've only done about 3 times before... that is, gave the ZACK SYS a shot for TWO not so stinkin dollars (total was $32). It hit a Zackta for $91.20. Not bad at all :)

I've been noticing that it's nos. hit the SUPPAH as well, but the bets are much too high to risk doing that. It hit two of them today, but I'm pretty sure I ain't biting for $0.10 Suppahs.

9th race is up and I got some figuring to do! Real fast-like.

Might as well how the 9th went

Might as well how the 9th went

Had the no. 7, wiener, as a side bet ($5) and it got bet down late and failed to cover the exactas I played. Side bets should be high priced odds but this race was an exception cause that no. 7 just looked too good to leave out of ALL the bets.

How bout the SYS in the last wace??
Not so good AND I DIDN'T PLAY IT EITHER (woulda costed $46, NO thanks.) Results were 7-9-4-2 and it missed the no. 9.

For the day (SYS) I prob. wouldn't believe this if somebody wrote it here. Here goes ->it nailed TWO suppahs today and that 8th race I played (exactas) was one of them. Super paid $55 for a 10 cent ticket in that race.
So far, $0.20 Supers appear to be the way to go; might be better than $0.50 trifectas.

With the way the Derby threads are mixed with the Philly threads and wacko in here.. IF I post some more - it's liable to be anyplace x18:

See you're here, Hamster :)

See you're here, Hamster :)

Haven't started doing anything for today's card. Doesn't look good at all. If the dang favorite didn't win it I think you woulda made a decent score. Good to see you and Hogman here for the Derby.

SODA: It doesn't make a difference, nobody is in here and I like reading my blabber just as much after or before the wace. :mj07: The Viewers come in here for the entertainment, not the plicks.
Keep on truckin x28:

I forgot to mention one thing...

I forgot to mention one thing...

Hammy, the "magic nos." are WAY overdue.

If I like two of the magic nos., I'm gonna do a tri box with them. I know that you know what thems are, Hammy. AND, it just so happens that I like two of them in today's 1st race. ;) The payout may be low, depends on how they come in IF THEY DO come in. Hell, it's gotta be over 6 stinkin dollars, right? :)
