Exactly. They charge you a FEE. They don't make you buy an extra ticket to put on more bags.
That is my only point. If you need the extra room then there should be a bigger seat with a premium on it.

so will you be able to sleep tonight if they charge the same and just call it a 'fee' instead?

The airline does offer a refund slip which makes it a little more acceptable which is something I didn't know.
I wonder what the percentage of those are refunded.

Jack mentioned leg room, but that's not even the worst part. I am 6'4" 220lbs. I take up my space with a little to spare. If some fat ass sits next to me, they will have to invade my space (physics, yo). So, I get to lean in the other direction for 4 hours. That torques the hell out of my back and I often get back spasms for a day or so after the flight. I shouldn't have to go through that, Kevin....but I do in about 1/3 of all my trips. I don't think that is fair, do you?

Well I am 6'5 240 and yes leg room is a bitch.
I try and get an isle seat so I can stretch my legs in the isle for a few seconds at a time.
I have more than sat next to a few celebs and chubbys in my day.
I sat next to Sweet Lou Dunbar on one flight from Atl to Hou(2 hours). He was about 6'7 and 250 and neither of us complained.

Sometimes in coach you have to deal with the cards that are dealt to you.

Gotta get the exit row!!!!
On the way back on United I had to pay $55 for each of us for the exit row.

You THINK you bought a reasonable fare at $149 and then $35 per checked bag and then $55 for leg room. WTF? :mj07:

Then, if you want to drink it's 7 bucks a pop and they want to charge you 7 bucks for some granola mixed crap :142smilie

I have been upgrading to 1st class on domestic flights when I check baggage because the upgrade fee is often just $10-20 bucks more than the checked bag fee, which is normally waived in 1st class.

Yup, some, like Air Tran, make it a no brainer but United was over $200 more :scared

Yes, I think Air Tran was $55 but you don't have to pay the $35 bag fee. That's what we did when we came down there.

Guy with Kevin Smith's bankroll would never be caught dead on Airtran.
He only flies SWA coach to stay in touch with the little people.

I never thought about it but I might start buying 2 seats myself on SWA. When you buy way in advance they are the cheapest and for the extra $100-$150 flying 5+ hours with window and middle to myself could be worth it. Definitely if you're flying with another person buy 3 seats, huh

He does not sit in the area of ONE SEAT on SWA. If you are sitting next to this guy, he is going to get 30% of your seat. That ain't cool, IMO. The seats are small enough as it is. If that fuker was going to be seated next to me on a 5 hour flight to Vegas, I guess I would get off the plane because I have enough trouble with leg room as it is.

Here is a picture of Smith earlier this month:

kevinsmith2.jpg

Baggy ass clothes make him look wide but I don't think he is so overweight to require 2 seats.
The picture in the original post tells me he is not spilling into another persons seat.

Bad call booting him.

How about charging them a child's fare for the 2nd seat or something. Making them pay full is a RIP OFF.

What I'm trying to figure out here - what the hell is he wearing for pants????

Clearly they are not shorts - way too long for that.....

But they are too short to be jeans - unless he is just wearing "High Waters" and is waiting for a flood! :00hour

These clothes seem to indicate that he has lost some weight and is too cheap to go out and buy the proper size. I mean he is still a big guy and he is swimming in that shirt.

It is like he went to the big and tall store and forgot to mention he was not tall when they found the shirt then told them he was tall when they found some jeans.

at a reported 300 pounds he should just wear a sign that says..

"I never back away from the table."
