Wow, that's really weird. Nobody else seems to be having a problem.

What kind of a message are you getting?

Bsu,

Is that that new email thing? With all that storage or whatever? I dunno, man. I haven't been on through AOL more than a couple times in 2 or 3 years, so I only use it for email and very rarely as a backup to my cable modem. So it's like 25/month for just email. I might change it, but it's a pain because i've had the same one for 7 or 8 years.

I suspect the problem is on Jacksons end. He has this nutty tough firewall and he's always having email that isn't allowed in or out. You'd think he was working in the Pentagon or something.

Hi Jimmy,

How have things been going on the sportbetting front, bro? Everything ok up in beantown? Look forward to meeting you in Atlantic City in a month or so. Bring a lot of cash to the golf outing, also.

Kosar- I actually tried to send you an email last night, too, and it got bounced back to me also. Although I had just gotten home from the bar at the time, so perhaps the problem was on my end as well. Now I can't even remember what I wanted to ask you in the first place. Damn Whiskey.

Kosar:

You can call AOL and get just the email address, not the whole access, for only $4.95 a month. I've had that aol address for 10 years but never use AOL to acces the internet.

Yeah, whiskey can have that effect. After the email bounced, did you call an ex at 2am in a drunken stupor looking for a booty call? Never a good idea.

Hey, that might be a good idea, nosigar. Thanks. I didn't know about that one.

I will say that just a few weeks ago AOL saved me because a storm knocked out the cable modem and I was in a big hand playing poker with a 3 way showdown and it went down right before everybody showed. I would have basically been knocked out if I lost so I called Jackson and asked him to go on and see if I won the pot, and I did. So I fired up AOL and continued on to a good finish in a multi.

But then again, it's only been used maybe 4 or 5 times in my 2 or so years with DSL and the 3 years with the cable modem.

I'll look into that one. Thanks.

i've been using yahoo's e-mail for several years. i use it for my business, so it is important for me. i have never had a problem. you can upgrade your mailbox storage very cheaply.

Funny you mention that. I was actually searching online for an ex's email address shortly after that. I'd heard that morning when I got back to my mom's place that the ex was knocked up. It's strange, I haven't seen the girl in over three years and I live on the other side of the country now, but hearing she was pregnant felt like a cannonball to the stomach. So of course I wanted to try and get ahold of her when I was drunk. God only knows what the hell I would've said.

I never did find an address for her. I'm going to go ahead and assume that was probably the best-case scenario.

Kosar,

Another avenue to cover a power outage/modem problem is to ask your cable company for a dial up number just in case, most cable internet providers have them available for no extra charge. I know if the power is out your desktop will be as well, but if you have a laptop and a charged battery or it's just a modem problem this is another out.

Mjolnir,

People seem to really like yahoo mail, but it wouldn't be good for me because then i'd have to change my address. Thanks.

Bjfinste,

lol- yeah, you can probably safely assume that it's for the best that you couldn't find her email address.

Penguin,

Thanks, i'll check with Comcast. That might be the best answer. Switch to that 4.95/month plan that nosigar mentioned and have a back-up to use, if needed every now and then and if Comcast has one of those.

IE,

Everything should be working now.
