First Big 12 pick is STRONG :mj07:

Take MIZZOU AT NEBRASKA Oct. 4

Sept. 27 Nebraska vs. Va. Tech*
Oct. 4 Nebraska vs. Missouri (HC)***
Oct. 11 Nebraska AT Texas Tech*

*Huskers are 9-2 at home vs current ACC tms with
their last defeat in '85 when FSU won 17-13 in
Lincoln. NU is 20-1 in the gm prior to their conf
opener the L21Y.
***MU did win the Big 12 North LY, but haven't
won in Lincoln S/'78 (0-15 since, avg L by 26 ppg).
NU allowed 606 yds LY vs Mizzou & the home team
has now won 6 straight. ----will be 1-15 :SIB
*The Cornhuskers are 8-4 since 2000 in the state
of Texas including bowl games. Including 06's Big
12 Championship gm, NU is just 8-18 in their L/26
conf away games.

Nebraska Coach: Bo Pelini (1st year at Nebraska)
LY Record: (5-7)
Returning Starters:
Offense: 5
Defense: 6

Phuc Phil's Phorecast : :mj07:

Sept. 27 OPEN :00hour
Oct. 4 Missouri AT Nebraska***
Oct. 11 Mizzou vs Oklahoma State*

***Pinkel after LY's 41-6 domination, "It was as
complete a gm as we've ply'd in a long time".
Tigers are just 16-33 in Big 12 RG's & LY won
more than 2 in one ssn S/'96.
*Mizzou is 10-1 their last 11 Big 12 home games
with the avg score being 35-19. Tigers are 8-3
S/'91 vs the Cowboys & the 3 losses were by a
combined 9 pts. (BUTT, don't bet this game,
Mizzou is AT NEB, VS OKIE STATE, then AT
TEXAS. In fact, I am looking at going against
Mizzou on Oct. 11) :0corn

Mizzou Coach: Gary Pinkel
LY RECORD: (12-2)
Returning Starters:
Offense: 6
Defense: 8

This year MU is even stronger with 14 returning
starters and one of my 8 sets of power ratings
calls for them to have an undefeated year.
(Phil Steele)

:00hour

edit: given the Cowboys away game performance,
I wouldn't touch the MU vs OSU game with
Michael Jackson's dick, if he still has one. :SIB

I like this one.

Truckin, I will recap all my picks by the first kickoff.
I will probably wager 100/game in the other thread
and if it goes south right out of the shoot then
will probably just kick back and see how it pans
out. It's just an experiment. Just playing around
with a weird angle. Now on these games, I will
wager to win 200/game. And yes I will bet the
same amount per game. But I will have picks
other than these that are all over the map
depending on how strong I feel about them.

My first Pac 10 pick won't shock anyone.
Take USC vs Oregon on Oct. 4

Aug. 30 USC AT Virginia
Sept. 6 OPEN
Sept. 13 USC vs Ohio State
Sept. 20 OPEN
Sept. 25 (Thurs) USC AT Oregon St.*
Oct. 4 USC vs Oregon***
Oct. 11 USC vs Arizona St.*

*QB Booty's 2 pt pass was batted down with :07
left allowing OSU to hold on in the '06 upset. It
ended thr Trojans 27 gm Pac-10 winning streak.
USC has lost just twice to OSU S/'68 (33 games).
With 2 OPEN dates to rest and practice this will be
a tune up game for Oregon. In a second you will
see Oregon's schedule. It is brutal.
***LY vs UO marked the 1st Pac-10 gm S/'01
that the Trojans weren't favored. Backup QB
Sanchez threw a late int on USC's final drive
allowing the #5 Ducks to prevail. Can you say
revenge.
*Trojans moved back into the Rose Bowl picture
after dismantling the Sun Devils 44-24 in front of
a sold out Thanksgiving crowd LY in Tempe. USC
has won 8 straight in the series.

USC Coach: Pete Carroll
LY Record: 11-2
Returning Starters
Offense: 4
Defense: 7

Aug. 30 Oregon vs Washington
Sept. 6 Oregon vs Utah St.
Sept. 13 Oregon AT Purdue
Sept. 20 Oregon vs Boise St.
Sept. 27 Oregon AT Washington St.
Oct. 4 Oregon AT USC
Oct. 11 Oregon vs UCLA

OK, maybe not brutal but certainly more intense
than USC.

Oregon Coach: Mike Bellotti
LY Record: 9-4
Returning Starters
Offense: 5
Defense: 7

Revenge and scheduling make this a strong pick.

:toast: :drinky: :Yep:

Like this one too.

BUTT UGLY PICK :Yep:

You all know that BUTT UGLY + POINTS = $$$

:00hour

Take NORTHERN ILLINOIS AT TENNESSEE Oct. 4

Sept. 20 Tennessee vs. FLORIDA
Sept. 27 Tennessee AT AUBURN
Oct. 4 Tennessee vs. n. ill. ***
Oct. 11 Tennessee AT GEORGIA

:SIB

***Answer me this. Which team has this game
circled. The one with 10 offensive starters and
11 defensive starters back (Jerry Kill steps into a
tremendous situation. NI was -17 in TO's, had 3
net close losses, had poor offensive and defensive
ypp's last year and were one of the top teams in
the NCAA in starts lost. They also go from an
inexperienced team with just 3 senior starters to
a team with 21 starters returning with 20 seniors
having starting experience. NI makes my most
improved list which means I think they can get
from 2-10 record to bowl eligibility. (Phil Steele)

OR

the team that just played Florida, Auburn, and has
Georgia on deck. :scared

Remember gents, points will be a plenty :Yep:

This post to be continued, I'm shitfaced and am
tired of typing :00x5

OK, I'm back but getting shitfaced again :SIB

Sept. 27 Michigan vs Wisky
Oct. 4 Michigan vs Illinois (HC)
Oct. 11 Michigan vs TOLEDO
Oct. 18 Michigan AT Penn State
Oct. 25 Michigan vs Michigan State

I will come back to this post, you can bet your
sweet ass on that

This is my last pick. Take Toledo at Michigan on
Oct. 11. I will recap all my picks in my next post

Thanks guys :toast:

My next pick is another Mississippi State home
game in a favorable spot. I know several of you
have stated that sandwich games don't mean
squat to Kentucky or Vandy, but you've got to
look at the total picture on both sides of the
schedule.

Oct. 4 Vandy vs. Auburn *
Oct. 11 Vandy AT Miss. State ***
Oct. 18 Vandy AT Georgia *

*Commodores have lost 13 in a row to Auburn
(last win was Gator Bowl in '55). VU had been
outscored by an avg of 37-7 in the last 3 meetings
with Auburn.
***Vandy trails the series 7-10-2 but won the last
meeting 31-13 in 2004. The Commodores have
dropped 5 straight in Starkville by an avg of 27 ppg
*LY UGA hit a 37 yd FG with no time left for a
20-17 come-from-behind win. The last time in
Athens, VU won 24-22 for their 1st road win over
a ranked opponet ever.

Vandy Coach: Bobby Johnson
LY Record: (5-7)
Returning Starters:
Offense: 3
Defense: 6

This looks like a rebuilding year, and I will call for an
0-8 SEC record, the first since Johnson's first year.
They have just 9 seniors but 32 juniors so '09 will
be their next shot at a winning season. (Phil
Steele).

Oct. 4 OPEN *
Oct. 11 Miss. State*** vs. Vandy
Oct. 18 Miss. State AT Tennessee*

*:00hour
***The Bulldogs have won 10 of the L/13
including 4 of 5 & 5 straight at home. Vandy won
the last meeting, 31-13 in Nashville in 2004.
*The Bulldogs have lost 5 in a row & 8 of the last
9. MSU Asst HC & QB Coach McCorvey was the RB
coach at UT for 5 years before joining Croom's staff

Miss. State Coach: Sylvester Croom
LY Record: 8-5
Returning Starters:
Offense: 6
Defense: 8

With 14 starters back, this year's team is more
talented than 2007's and have a great shot at
getting to a bowl. (Phil Steele)

My next pick is a mirror image of my Kentucky/LSU
pick LY. And Cie was quick to point it out.
Take South Carolina vs LSU on Oct. 18.

Oct. 11 LSU AT FLORIDA *
Oct. 18 LSU AT SOUTH CAROLINA ***
Oct. 25 LSU vs. GEORGIA *

*LSU has won 3 of the L/4 in this series, but over-
all have just 5 wins in the L/20. Last year the
Tigers trailed 17-7 at HT but outscored the Gators
14-0 in the 4Q.
***LSU is 15-2-1 all-time in this series & SC's last
win was in '94. LY LSU used a fake FG to score a
TD & had a 290-17 yd rush edge in their 28-16
win over SC. (LY LSU had Middle Tenn and Tulane
before and after the SC game at home :scared
*LSU leads the overall series 14-11-1 & the home
team has won 5 of 6 (reg ssn). They met in both
the '03 & '05 SEC Championship game & each won
one easily.

LSU Coach: Les Miles
LY Record: 12-2
Returning Starters:
Offense: 7
Defense: 5

Oct. 11 South Carolina AT Kentucky *
Oct. 18 SOUTH CAROLINA*** VS LSU
Oct. 25 OPEN

*SC DE Norwood tied an NCAA record with 2 FR
TD's in LY's 38-21 SC win. KY had a 384-342 yd
edge, but SC has a 4-1 TO edge & have now won
8 straight.
***SC was outrushed by a 290-17 yd margin in last
year's 28-16 loss.

South Carolina Coach: Steve Spurrier
LY Record: (6-6)
Returning Starters:
Offense: 7
Defense: 10

17 returning starters and one of the top D's in the
country, spells trouble for LSU sandwiched
between Florida and Georgia.

:Yep: :Yep: :Yep:

Went 2-0 last week, both were dogs and both
won outright. Brings my record to 6-1. Only one
play this week and this is it.

Thanks Cie and Truckin. I've been sidetracked in
my life in a very positive way and haven't been
around this forum much but still enjoy it. Hope
everyone has a good day today. :toast:

*In a game that featured 4 ejections and QB
Locker being taken by ambulance after an
apparent neck injury, OSU held off a late UW
charge to pull out the win.
***Willingham was the HC of ND from '02-'04
(21-15) leading the Irish to 2 bowls. The Huskies
have lost all 6 games vs the Irish being outscored

My first pick of the season comes on Nov. 1st.
Take Mississippi State vs. Kentucky.

Oct. 4 Kentucky AT Alabama
Oct. 11 Kentucky vs. South Carolina
Oct. 18 Kentucky vs. Arkansas (HC)
Oct. 25 Kentucky AT FLORIDA *
Nov. 1 Kentucky AT MISSISSIPPI STATE ***
Nov. 8 Kentucky vs. GEORGIA *

*The Wildcats have lost 21 in a row to the Gators.
***The Wildcats lost 6 TO's all in the 2H in LY's
31-14 upset loss to Miss. St. as the Bulldogs had
just a 352-319 yd edge while facing UK without
their top 2 RB's & top WR.
*LY UGA held UK to just 297 total yds, their
lowest output in '07, in a 24-13 win. UK has lost
10 of the last 11 in this series, but pulled an upset
the last meeting in Lexington, 24-20 in '06. Not
gonna happen TY.

Kentucky Coach: Rich Brooks
LY Record: (8-5)
Returning Starters:
Offense: 4
Defense: 8

Despite having what figures to be their best D yet
under Brooks, the offense loses QB Woodson, their
top RB, and 3 of their top 4 receivers and is in
rebuilding mode. (Phil Steele)

Oct. 25 Mississippi State vs. MIDDLE TENN. *
Nov. 1 Mississippi State *** vs. KENTUCKY
Nov. 8 OPEN

*Miss. State is 31-4-2 vs current SBC tms & 2-0
in this series with an avg win of 51-21.
***Miss. St. upset Kentucky LY that eliminated
them from the SEC East race.

Mississippi State Coach: Sylvester Croom
LY Record: (8-5)
Returning starters:
Offense: 6
Defense: 8

With 14 starters back, this year's team is more
talented than 2007's and have a great shot at
getting to a bowl. (Phil Steele).

:Yep: :Yep: :Yep:

Went 2-2 last week which brings my record to
8-4. I had Nebraska -11 at Betjam but did see
some people at -12.5 which didn't cover.

This is the first pick this week.

I've beat my brains out on the Big 12 and came to
this conclusion. Although I have this last pick, and
not a strong pick, every team I looked at and my
eyes lit up at a possible situation, I'd look at the
other team and they were in the same situation.
I could give you countless examples, but won't
waste your time nor mine. Which leads me to this
conclusion for Big 12 games, if you take the points
in this conference, you will win. Bold statement, I
dare anyone to challenge me and track it. I dare U.

:00x17

Nov. 1 Take Texas A&M vs Colorado

Sept. 18 Colorado vs West Virginia
Sept. 27 Colorado vs Florida State @ Jacksonville
Oct. 4 Colorado vs Texas (HC)
Oct. 11 Colorado AT Kansas
Oct. 18 Colorado vs Kansas State
Oct. 25 Colorado AT MISSOURI
Nov. 1 Colorado AT TEXAS A&M

:scared

Much like my Auburn over Georgia pick because
of the brutal schedule, look at this fricken ride.
On the flip side.

Oct. 25 Texas A&M AT IOWA STATE
Nov. 1 Texas A&M vs COLORADO
Nov. 8 Texas A&M vs OKLAHOMA

Colorado Coach: Dan Hawkins
LY Record: 6-7
Returning Starters:
Offense: 6
Defense: 8

Texas A&M Coach: Mike Sherman (1st year)
LY Record: 7-6
Returning Starters:
Offense: 5
Defense: 5

I think Dan Hawkins is going to turn heads this
year, and Mike Sherman is going to struggle in
the south. But this game sets up for a letdown
for the Buffs and a monumental effort from the
Aggies.
