Hedge I agree but the point was he refused to admit what insurmountable evidence showed...and he built an empire around it. Not necessarily that he cheated but he wouldn't own up.

He helped millions- Does the end justify the means? I don't think so. But I think you have to look at him and his pursuits as two separate entities. Cheater/liar when it comes to cycling. Humanitarian when it comes to his foundation.

He cheated at games, but raised $470 million for real life. If all it took was a superstar athlete to be a fraud to raise $470 million, I would take it every day of the week and twice on Sundays.

As far as ruining other peoples lives, that is another whole issue.

Armstrong?s influence led to his bike sponsor, Trek, dropping its support of the LeMond brand it had licensed for 13 years from the three-time Tour winner.

In 2008, Trek president John Burke told the trade magazine Bicycle Retailer and Industry News, ?Had all the stars aligned with Lance and Greg, if [LeMond] had kept a positive relationship, [the LeMond brand] would have ended up a $30 [million] to $35 million brand.?

Instead, it wound up a memory.

?Armstrong could exercise unbelievable influence if he wanted to ? to damage your business interests, or destroy your character,? Walsh said. ?He was a formidable and very dangerous enemy, Lance, and he didn?t mind using his power to destroy other people.?

Will the NCAA be stepping in to remove any cycling victories he had while he was in college or high school too?

Has the current, entire US Cycling team been put on suspension and banned from competing in any and all events for the next 5 years?

Have they disbanded the LiveStrong foundation yet and returned all the monies to all the donors?

No - Lance was a professional athlete as a teenager.

Taken yesterday. This sign should be in flames already. C'mon society, we need another public burning.

Someone had a thread a few months ago asking what celebrity/athlete you would like to punch in the face. My initial response is confirmed.

He's always been a lying selfish dick. It's unfortunate so many of his minions maintained their unquestioned loyalty to him even as the truth became obvious.

I usually like your posts but to compare an individual taking PEDs with a someone enabling a child molester (proven, fact) is sickening.

Agreed.

The fact Marine even thought about comparing Lance Armstrong to PSU incident is beyond pathetic.

Paterno (and others) protected a child molester, what the fuck does that have to do some dude taking drugs and cheating at his sport?

Marine should be ashamed of himself.......pretty disgusting move by him.

Why it would even enter his mind is just crazy.

Lance Armstrong cheating...........gee let's compare that to Sandusky. How fucking stupid and shameful.

Have you been missing the same news reports that I've been watching? Lance Armstrong ruined lives. At least that is what news channels claim. So here's two situations that both involved "ruining lives" (as I've read in various news pieces about them). Apparently the method used to ruin lives and use your influence to cover it up it what decides the punishment and aftermath

Here's a man that "swindled" Americans out of over 400 million dollars for his organization and was a drug user.

And he lied to everyone for years with his cover up of what he had done.

This is an outstanding of the shift in popular and the amazing forgiveness of people based on your emotional triggers.
In one scenario you have a guy that was accused of hiding facts of a case to protect himself and his orgnizatin and his "legacy" and his name and things he built with his name absolutely desecrated.

In the next scenario you have a guy that not only hid and covered up the crimes, and used his level of influence to coerce people to maintain the cover up.. but this guy is actually the one that committed the crimes. And we haven't torched him yet, we haven't even burned down his house yet. We haven't punished everyone around him or associated with him, or even punished people that came after him yet by not allowing them to compete.

I'm glad I now see where the line is for you. Punishment should be based on how big of an emotional response you have.

It's not emotion based, it's logic based.

Did you poll those who gave the 400 million to see if they felt it was 'swindled'? No, you didn't. YOU made an emotional assumption. Did that money go into cancer research, etc? Yes. So, the PREMISE was false, but the money still went towards what people intended it to. Donations weren't given to buy Lance a vacation home. They were given to help with cancer in general.
Where's the negative there? The motivation to give may have been to support a false premise (lance is a hero) but the act of giving was still the same regardless.

The end result of the latter is that children were raped and have a life of turmoil for them and their families.

GREAT comparison you yahoo.

BTW have you turned on any media lately? Internet, TV, sports radio...Lance is being vilified and destroyed right now. Man you are such a homer it's unreal.
