lane vs walker prop

since i have not played much mlb since before the allstar break, i'm looking for feedback from my fellow madjackers about a proposition bet on the jason lane/larry walker matchup in tonight's game.

walker, a +103 dog in total bases vs lane tonight at pinnacle, is 5/8 this year* vs oswalt, with a double and a homer, for a whopping 1.125 slugging percentage.

lane is 4/13 this year* vs mulder with a homer, a .538 slugging percentage.

can anyone give me a reason why walker isn't a bargain play tonight?

:shrug: Walker has been playing with an injury, and has not been very dependable. He has a lot of men left on base. I wouldn't say that it is free money.

didn't say it was free money, just a bargain. true, walker is not 100% and has generally struggled in this year's postseason, but he has a good grasp of oswalt's stuff, and usually gets some good cuts against him. also, lane hasn't exactly been on fire in the this year's playoffs, hitting .235 and 0/4 with 2 k's vs mulder last time out.

just saying i don't think walker should be the dog in this matchup.

Walker is out of shape and injured. He has looked shaky at best at the plate. Extra base hits will be hard to come by for him in his current condition. Price is about right there.

The Walker/Lane prop is looking like there is very good value with Walker considering they mover him to the 4th spot behind Pujols. I think that will give him more chances to drive in runs being a fastball hitter is a good way to get him going. I like this move by LaRussa.

Also Lane is batting 5th in which St. Louis will walk Berkman if nec. to get to Ensy who is strugling.
