Knock on wood but I have never had any trouble witht the two dells I have owned. I wouldnt have an HP if you gave it to me(based on personal experience).

I know there are a lot of laptop snobs out there, but given what I think your needs are, there are plenty that can do what you need. GL

BTW I am currently on a Dell Inspiron n5010 and have had zero problems to date(1.5 years).

Got my wife a Dell at Best Buy about 18 months ago and still running fine. I think it was less than $400.

Old School. Bump your budget to 1000 and get a Mac.

It'll be like new 10 years later.

:0074

If not, count me in for a vote for a Dell. Have had a Dell Laptop for over a year now; no problems, has 15.5 inch screen and I paid around 450 for it.
Never use it anymore since I got a Mac, though...

can't bump what I don't have..

I pay cash for everything..

If it was a new car I was lookin' for it would be paid for with cash..

I have alloted $500.00 for the wife to finally have a laptop.

I appreciate the thought though..

checked Best Buy..

only have
Factory Refurbished

that I see.

certainly appears to be a good price on a laptop but I don't know squat about them..

my guru built PC screams speed and that is all I use for electronics..

hate my cell phone..only have it for my company.

gotta think factory fixed would be better than factory broke and not fixed yet..

gotta check the return and fix it policy..

thanks for the suggestion..:0074

more ...I am not confused enuff..:mj07:

Compusa has some good deals. Check their website for deals. I recently purchased a laptop after a month of research and ended up there. See the link below for benchmarks for processors and video cards along with numerous other components. Its all about the processing power and graphics along with size and type of screen. Get at least and I3 with 4GB ram at minumum. Get as much ram as you can. I ended up with an Asus as I got more power for the money than dell could provide. Nothing wrong with Dell computers though. Bought my wife a 17" 720p I3 6GB ram Toshiba for $499.
Good luck.
