Well, I heard it from the lady today, she is not well with the amount of time I have been spending with her lately. She is very dear to me and as a result I will no longer be sports handicapping. Unfortunately MOJO threads will be a thing of the past (I can hear BAHAMAMA saying THANK GOD). But I am sure others will continue the trend! I have to get my priorities straight and she is at the top of the list. I wish you ALL the best of luck in the near future and may GOD BLESS you all. Stay safe

well, this chit ain't supposed to start until you're married, and that will only be temporary depending on how you handle the situation.

really, women don't want a guy that's gonna roll over so easily. stand your ground and take charge now, or you'll be sorry later on.

men have 'emotional needs' as well as women do and they are just as important to us as is theirs. near the top of your emotional needs is recreation (sports betting and watching sports).

provide her with her top emotional needs and she will permit you to have yours. it's a 2-way street.

think about it, because by giving this up, you're NOT going to be happy about it in the long term.

Donna and I were going through the same thing. She was saying that "we never spend any quality time together!" "All you care about is that laptop and gambling!!"

I actually found myself scheduling our lives around sports times.
We even were on vacation in Daytona Beach last year and I spend most of my time running into the hotel (from the beach) many many times to place bets. She would roll her eyes and say things like,"There you go again!" or "I guess sports is more important than Me!" stuff like that.

Then one day driving to work, I said to myself (after doing this shit to her day in and day out) that we need to compromise. We had a LONG talk and now I have 2 gambling days and that's it. One of my days off is mine and another day as well. The other 5 days I do not even look at sports.

This is what worked for us. I still get to enjoy sports and her.

Note: She is back in Maryland packing and I am now in Florida, so the above rule does not yet apply. :D

I even deleted all my favorite porn sites for her. :cry: :cry: :cry: (Although I still go to the FREE page posted by AP on occasion).

If youre giving this up for awhile because you feel you need to......thats one thing. If youre giving this up entirely because of your significant other......then like Jack said......RED FLAG

There's no reason why you can't just cut back.....and give her the quality time she wants......without completely compromising something you love. Hopefully she wouldnt have a problem with that idea.

No one knows the complete answer but you. But if it's entirely because of your lady......you need to reconsider

I'm getting married in a week and a half.......so I understand completely the quality time deal. At the same time.....I wouldnt completely give up any of my hobbies for her (except smoking)......and I dont think she'd ask me too.

Just cut back, man. Learn to have restraints with this.....and you can have your cake and eat it too.

It may be a little late, but every few months or so I would drop $100 on a gift at Tiffanys or similar establishment, REGARDLESS of how I was doing. The lady has no problems with the Vegas trips now. I used to think going to Vegas 3 or 4 times a year would have to stop when we started dating a few years ago. Hell I have already been 3 times THIS year and Im still unemployed! Its amazing how much leverage a little pair of earrings buys you when it comes in the little blue box. Trust me, its the best money you will every spend in this business.

sorry to see you leave the forum, even if it's for a short time. you are a true asset to this place.

tj bell,taoist, & dr. wooden have given you good advice, there is always room for compromise. my wife also was aginst me constantly gambling, especially when i would excuse myself while in a restaurant to call sportsphone(lol).so we had a "sitdown" where i promised her that my gambling wouldn't interefere with my business & i will not bet year around. i took a few years off from gambling, did what i had to in business(bet occasionally when in vegas) & we agreed that i would only bet on football & ocassionally on baskets, when everything is in order, & i would give her a new kitchen(lol).

good luck & remember to always keep the lines of communication open.
