Are you one of my clients? LOL

It depends. If it has been 48 hours or less, I would say the other lawyer is busy dealing with higher priority issues. Give it some time. If it has been longer than that, the other lawyer is either, lazy, incompetent, on vacation, sick, etc., or your lawyer is lying to you about contacting the other lawyer (or how timely he did so).

In my office, we try to call everyone back within 24 hours, but it does not always happen due to court hearings, excessive appointments, or some other reason. However, on some cases, we have had the same problem that you are talking about. Some lawyers just don't give a shit. If the other lawyer doesn't call you back, go to his office in person. My office had to do this recently with another firm that did not call us back for two weeks. It worked. Hiring another lawyer will not get you anywhere if this lawyer doesn't call your attorney back. Also, if you need to and if it is appropriate, filing for a court hearing to deal with the issue.

Its been about a month since my lawyers last contact with him. Its a real estate problem and we emailed him some documents that he had to look over and sign. We believe he hasnt even looked at them and its not that important to him right now.

My lawyer has definetely called him lots of times. He just doesnt return calls or emails. Hes 3 hrs away from us. We are figuring hes either lazy or incompetent. Im meeting with lawyer today so i will ask about the court hearing.

pug can you answer a general question??

first of all sorry to hear about your dog. I think about that when I out walking my dog at night.

Question
If you get divorced and stay living in the same house together are you still accountable/responsible for the other partners credit card bills??

My friend's wife is running up credit card bills and he wants to know if he legally gets divorced but continues to live with the woman for the sake of the kids. He plans on taking her name off the house also.

thanks in advance

I'm not lawyer but I do know a ton about credit. No matter is he's married or divorced if his name is listed as a responsible party then they will hold him liable.

Whether he's married or not has nothing to do with it.

He isn't responsible for any loans he didn't sign for himself. Now, taking her off the house loan might be difficult. The bank might not be willing to take someone off a loan they already have in place. Prob have to get a new loan without her on it and need to get her to sign off on the deed. I forgot how that worked, something like that :0008

cavy1, I replied to your email but it was returned undeliverable.

AOL blows! I think they are trying to protect you from a spammer even though I was returning an email that you sent to me.

Is the other lawyer from Cincy? Given a certain someone's lack of prescence in this thread, would leave me to believe....

Just so it's clear, it has nothing to do with him being divorced or not. He can be divorced for 5 years but if his name is on the dotted line he will be held accountable for her actions.

For credit cards? No it doesn't mean a signature. If his name was put down on the application when it was done then that's all that counts. If he's an authorized user then he's clear. He may have to send a letter to each credit reporting company but not too big of deal.
