huge milestone coming up for me on Dec. 10 and I am considering a 60'' LED as the present to myself..

I have done some research and have read a lot of negative responses concerning poor picture quality for sports action.

Our 55" Visio LCD is awesome pic so I am very surprised that LED is not even better in the reviews..

Anyone with first hand experience with big LED's I would very much appreciate your feedback on viewing sports on them..

thanks in advance for your opinions.

Plasma is better. Hands down.

LED and LCD are the exact same thing - only difference is.......is that LED lights are used instead of the traditional ones in LCD.

You are still getting an liquid crystal display, but lit with LED lights.

Plasma is better

Plasma is better

Plasma is better :0074

I have a Vizio LED and love it all the channels that come with HDTV have a great picture. The sports channels come in very clear and very solid whether it's baseball, football, hockey or nascar.
I recommend LED :0074

The best picture in my house is clearly the 55 panasonic plasma in my living room, which cost less than our sony 42 lcd .

i have the samsung 55 led un6000 series 240 mhz

i also have the hitachi ultravision 47 plasma.

two completely diffent tvs. they are considerable amounts of adjustments needed on the led. but when you find the right config, its absolutely amazing.

i can not stand watching movies at 240 mhz. the characters look fake and soap opera like.

give me a good blur and good darks any day.

anyone else not a fan of the 240mhz in movies?

Plasma is a thick sheet of glass... really fucking heavy. Also there is (at least used to be) a problem with glare if the room is bright. That said, (sorry Jack) it does have a superior picture but not enough to outweigh the negatives for me anyway.

A 55-60" LCD/LED can be moved around easily by one guy and the good ones have a kickass pic.

Electronics is my real line of work. So here is my take. Plasma plain and simple offers a much better contrast ratio non enhnced upto 3 mil to one and 600hz not a led/lcd cant touch it. Plasmas are energy star efficient but do cost 10-12% more to run - Glass is not used for the screens anymore its a poly resin with about 20% glass. they do weigh a little more - very little though. there is no more burn in because they started about 5 years ago using different resisters and light tech to reduce heat so no burn in. Panel life on both are about 50000 hours. My company sells and install most makes and models of both lcd and led. I prefer Samsung plasma because of the bezel -way more attractive than the panasonic. but led and lcd are nice also just compaing them the plasma has better blacks contrast and 600hz and less expensive.

diggin' the input..

looked a many over the last several days..

room does have glare and I refuse to defuse the light.

Wal-Mart w/ a nice 65'' LCD as BlackFriday enhancer...$999.00 +TAX +2 YEAR EXTENDED WARRANTY comes to 1,200.00..

may camp out with the wife for one of those and a 36-40'' Plasma to replace my 32'' Monitor/LCD Tv

saw some Samsung's at Best Buy that were awesome..

love my Visio 55'' LCD..NOT ONE PROBLEM W/IT..

but I really want that Samsung picture quality..

just a matter of getting off that extra 6-7 hundred..:0003

anybody have a 65''..

by who and your thoughts on it..

Good info... left the plasma with house per buyer request when I moved about 5yrs ago and decided then would not get another. I'll reconsider now... didn't know about improvements.

Thanks for the picks... oh wait

Left Best Buy 30 minutes ago. LCD, LED, and Plasma all side by side and I can tell you beyond any shadow of doubt that the plasme looked better. Not even sure if that is what you were asking, just an observation. GL and concrats on the milestone!!!!!!!

CAUTION:

i have been told by a couple store associates at bb that they adjust models that are in overstock to appear better than other model displays on the floor.:nono:

research research research...

in the end you have to give up a little unless you want to pay...

i prefer the smart tv as i can switch to my computer hdmi very quickly and easily on the 55. pretty cool.
