I am a member of a swimming/tennis club. We swam there 3 weekends ago. I invited a friend and his children. One of his friends was with them and I said it would be fine for the friend to join us.
The kids swam and we drank beer throughout the afternoon. The adults, myself included, occasionally took dips or dove from springboard to cool off.
My friend's buddy jumped in the pool at some point and his wrist struck the pool coping. He showed us how it was swollen and referenced his discomfort a few times that afternoon. I thought he was being a wuss, as did the other 3 adult males in our group.
He got my number from my friend who brought him that day and called me last night indicating that he broke his wrist and is out of work as an XRay tech as a result. He is going to sue the club. I told him that I have nothing to do with it, that I find it difficult to believe that he would consider this since his injury was his own fault, and requested that he not call me again.
Since he was a guest of mine, would I typically hold any liability? How about the club??
I will speak with an attorney today, just curious if anyone out there has experienced anything similar......
