(Let the spinning begin.)

How can you compare Martha to Scooter ? Libby was the chief of staff & National Sec Advisor to VP Cheney. Scooter took one for the team . He protected Rove & Cheney, he protected the White house . You are the first to cry about the press leaking. Rove, Cheney and Libby tryed to discredit Wilson, by exposing her identity. Libby lied in the investigation of it. Do we want someone like Libby, who had a hand in forming the policy for the war in Iraq to move on like nothing happened ? This guy showed no regard for a member of our gov and was willing to do what ever it took for the greater good, as he believed it to be. Sounds reckless & dangerous. Thinking like yours and Scooters, has us were we are.

What a surprise, weasel minimizes the importance of this in the big picture. This conviction is at the heart of why we are now in Iraq and gives a clear focus on standard operating procedure of the administration.

Hopefully, this will not be the end of studying the depths of this administration. It's ridiculous to think that ONLY the Chief of Staff to the Vice President was aware of this, and had party to helping discredit a critic of the administrations case for attacking Iraq.

The big picture is the point here.

As i've posted before, what a waste of time and money. Bullshit 'case.'

Fitzgerald originally went for an 'outing' charge, couldn't get it, and ended up with having to settle for this crap. Take what you can get, I guess.

Just like Whitewater and Paula Jones fizzled, so Ken Starr got extremely lucky and that tranny Linda Tripp fell into his lap(so to speak) with info on a semen stained dress.

Bubba lied about a blowjob, Libby lied about *something* about when he heard or knew about something.

Just ridiculous.

Agree to disagree on this one, Kosar. I think it's an important focus on this administration and how it conducts business. Considering that the business has us in a war that is costing our country trillions in dollars and immeasurable damage politically in world view, I think it matters a great deal.

Perjury. Obstruction of Justice. Straight out of the Iraq war case manual, IMO.

wrong..i`m getting tired of schooling you chad....

this was politics.....ala the clinton impeachment....this was aimed at snaring cheney...and when it became clear that no crime was committed, this moron of a prosecutor had to justify all this time and expense.....

if there was a crime...if this bimbo was actually a "covert" agent, then colin powell`s boy dick armitage should have been on trial...

now, this guy could go to jail for 25 years?......that`s insane....

this is what will happen more and more...trials without crime....he was found guilty of lying about a crime that wasn`t a crime...

let me reduce it to the level of a 5 year old for you,chad...

they claimed he lied about who told him about a purple dog ....there was no purple dog - didn't matter to the jury - they claim they caught him in a lie about WHO told him about the non-existant purple dog......

i hope that helps...lol

not to mention that fact that there was some history between fitzgerald and libby.....but,you wouldn`t know about that....you`d have to be able to read at a 9th grade level...

No job loss ?? Scooter fell on the sword back in 2005 when he resigned/ fired by long time pal Dick Cheney. Remember that press conference the way Dick was all broken up about poor old Scooter ? I guess if your a FOD, better duck if the shit starts flying. This is a great story about , wannabe great men. President Bush made a public pledge back in 2004. HE SAID : ANYONE INVOLVED IN THE LEAKING OF CIA OPERATIVE WILSON WOULD BE FIRED. Whats important about the Presidents statement, it shows who was running this show. Bush didn't know what the **** was gong on. When he found out it was Cheney and Rove, that was the end of the story.

Before I launch into another comment about purple dogs...I just want to point this last post out to AR...who says he's never seen weasel make a personal attack. I'd say this one pretty much foots the bill. Back later with a response. By the way, weasel, why don't you clarify what the purple dog was, why it wasn't really a purple dog, and what Libby was lying about - I think it was like nine times, right? If there was nothing to lie about, why was he lying again?

Been interesting of listenening to both sides on Fox.

Have to disagree with the pro Libby stance in that there was never crime to begin with--true but perjury/obstruction are crimes.

However like Matt this should have never went this far- when it became obvious there was no crime to begin with.

biggest mistake was libby trying to volunteer too much info --had he simply taken the arkansas alzheimer's route alla Bill/Hlilary's failing to recall some 250 times he would have never been in this situation.

While I doubt he ever spends a day behind bars with either being overturned later or at most out on appeal and pardoned later--I am anticipating the sentencing--to see if as I said he gets off with no time and small fine eg Clinton and Berger--

--or if we continue with the doubles standards eg-- Foley/Franks where one is dismissed for emails and the other still serving for actual deeds.

Weas, by your standards, this could have had major national sec implications, maybe we should try Rove & Cheney for treason and try Bush for being stupid.

On your comment Chad--while there is small chance he got dates messed up--the witnesses got crossed up same way in court by defense--on those I spoke about above B&B there was no doubt.

However I am not making excuses for Libby--he had his trial and was found quity--though the jurers are a little suspect with their questions to judge--I see LOTS of room for appeal which does not make him innocent by any means.

I might add--this thread is much diff than intially when many here were wanting his head for treason ;)

c`mon chad...you specifically called me out in your post....what offended you?.....

the part about "schooling you"? ...or the 9th grade reading level thing?......i think you`ve said the same thing regarding me in past posts...how you "straightened me out" or whatever...harmless stuff...

if the 9th grade reading level thing offended you...i apologize...some on this board would be popping the buttons off their shirts if they thought they were perceived as reading at the 9th grade level.....

now i know why ann coulter upset you guys....lol

i agree with kosar(been doing a little to much of that lately)...this is clinton impeachment-esque...

the problem is that a man could do 25 years for this foolishness.....

it`s a real bitch to have to defend yourself against trumped-up, politically motivated prosecution.....

just ask bill clinton and the duke lacrosse players.....

chad....no offense intended....maybe i was a bit snarky(shocker)........

There was no crime ? The system doesn't work ? There was 11 jurors, they all believed cooper over libby / russert over libby / judy miller over libby/ Cathy martin over libby. miller, martin and libby are friends. How do you think the war got started ? this was nothing new. Cheney used Scooter & his pals @ the nytimes, Judy Miller & Martin helped sell this war to the American people and the world with leaks from the White House .

Wayne, of course I have no way to know if the case was handled in an appropriate manner, nor the jury verdict, I do think it's important. I really think there is a bigger picture here than narrow face value, but probably am in the minority in that in many respects.

I do seriously question others here besides you, Wayne (for once...;) ) that say this should have been no big deal. I certainly think that if the parties were reversed, it would be a liberal politics issue for some. And I guess if one doesn't want to look at it from an overall perspective and have blinders on about the verbiage of Plame and what she was doing narrowly, then I guess that's the way it will be defended. I don't think this really is about Plame in what is important about it (although it would have been if parties were reversed). I think it's about the lengths the administration went - and will go to - to enact their agenda in Iraq, and maybe further.

As for his sentence, I guess I don't care that much about his actual jail time - if he gets any. I certainly think members of the cabal deserve some, but impossible to pinpoint from my chair. I am mainly glad attention is being placed right in the middle of this administration. Hopefully the light will remain on in the cockroach room for a while.

Unless we are talking about a blow job, then it is of national interest that we proceed.

biggest mistake was libby trying to volunteer too much info --had he simply taken the arkansas alzheimer's route alla Bill/Hlilary's failing to recall some 250 times he would have never been in this situation.

"But in the recordings, Libby maintains his story that when in the week following the publication of former Ambassador Joseph Wilson's op-ed piece in the New York Times, he had forgotten that Wilson's wife worked for the CIA. He said he did not disclose that information to reporters because, as far as he was concerned, he didn't know the information.

Libby has told investigators that he actually learned the information from Tim Russert of NBC on July 10 or 11, four or five days after Wilson's op-ed appeared."

Libby stated "I don't recall" and "Not to my knowledge" hundreds of times in his testimony.

yeah, there is no difference between consensual gay sex between two adults and non-consensual sexual harrasment between an adult and a minor. Its all just gayness, right?

Go back to your Fox news.
