Little help: TVs

This topic has been discussed on here several times, but it is such a moving target.

Note: we are not video snobs in the slightest bit. We don't have any flat screens now or HD.

I am interested in something like this: Costco Vizio

I want to add HD to our cable mostly for sports watching.

I want to stay in this price range.

LCD the way to go?

Thoughts?

As stated, I know there are other threads. I have read many of them here. But the sector changes quite a lot.

I have a 47" that I bought at Costco 6 years ago for $1200, that was a good deal then. It's freaking great, great picture and quality. Remember you have 90 days to return it at Costco and not 30 days like at Best Buy..............

How is the lighting in the room you will be viewing? In darker rooms the plasma works better. If your room is well lit then go with LCD or even better LED for a sharper picture. Vizio makes excellent quality, so enjoy!!

Vizio is very good...Sony and Samsung would be a step up but, also more costly.

You can also evaluate if it is internet ready to save some set-up hassles later.

I would definitely focus shopping on Costco or Sam's Club. You might check out Sears also as sometimes they have competive deals.

Also..if you get a Vizio and will not hang it on the wall, make sure it has a platform included so you can put it on a tabletop. We had to buy an aftermarket stand which was fine but, it was another $50.

ya get a small one home and 6 weeks later ya want a 55


tighten the buget somewhere else..if at all possible and come into the world of HD SUPER-PICTURE

get ya a 55 Vizio at Costco or Sams for 1,000 out the door..

AVERAGE LIGHT.LCD will be fine..

If they made a 80 for 2 grand I woulda bought it..

My Sharp - AQUOS 70" Class - LED is like walkin' the golf course on every PGA event I watch..


are plasmas nice..damn sure are..

but they are not the Mercedes of HD viewing as some here would like us all to believe.

Why? You are in the vast minority if u think plasmas are better. Plasma was a lot cheaper too. I don't really know anything about them though other than what I have read.

don`t scrimp...make sure you get something with multiple hdmi inputs(most have them nowadays)....i`m pretty sure(double check) that if you have a laptop(or desktop for that matter) with an hdmi plug you can stream internet content onto your big screen t.v..you may have to invest in an hdmi cable but you can get them fairly cheap if you check around......this is why i`ve been looking around for a nice laptop...


nice for sports(you can`t always see all the nfl games unless you`re paying for the package)....good for boxing/mma or any other sport that tickles your fancy...i doubt that they`ll block content......so many streaming sites it seems as though you can stream practically anything.....

No one here knows about LED/LCD refresh rates (blur).

LCD technology has problems with fast motion That is why you see ones advertised with 120Hz or 240Hz refresh rates (100Hz and 200Hz in Europe). This does not come close to Plasma though. So they aren't as good for fast motion (sports and movies). The 240Hz ones are making good strides, but right now you're paying a HUGE premium for it.

People here say "I ain't got no blur. Picture is perfect!":00hour Yaaaaa! Fuckin' Yaaaaa!

Truly they have no clue.

Plasma is better. Especially for sports.

Other argument..... "is your room dark because I live in a greenhouse and I have to have an LCD TV.

Plasma isn't wayyyyyyy better but it is better than LCD/LED.


Guess it doesn't matter anyway. It's not like you are going to be watching quality movies on it.
