Those are great logos. You do good work.

FWIW, I think the colors on the home page are uninviting. I almost did not click on the examples, because the page looked like crap. I'm glad I did, though, as the logos themselves are very well done.

on your 'contact us' page, the email address should be clickable and you should use an email to your domain, not yahoo

excellent points guys and ones that i have already began to address.

Ravenous: i was so turned off by the final product of the website that i decided yesterday to reconstruct a new "look" and so far it's taking shape nicely... http://www.jabridesign.com/jabrisample.jpg

keep in mind that i have no prior website building experience and this is all on-the-fly. trial and error is the only way i'll be able to improve things. btw, building a website can be a freakin' headache when you don't have formal training.

Jack: i know the Yahoo address looks bad but i'm not really sure i have a jabridesign email account since i am using the same host account to another webpage i have. so this is sort of a sub domain i'm currently using. i'll check with godaddy on that.

fatdaddy: hey man, hit me up on YahooIM at jabridesign at yahoo dot com so we can catch up!

thanks for the feedback guys. hopefully i will have a cleaner look on the website by next week.

.

Constructive criticism ahead:
don't dwell so much on the look of the web site, by the way this one looks like a powerpoint template:00x16 , make sure the content is text ritch so that search engines can find it and you apply the proper keywords and metatags to the back end. Sure a nice looking web site is great but if nobody can find it it's not doing what it's suppose to do for you.

the logos are great.

Don't make your fonts so bold, hard to read. Only bold headdings.

I agree, clickable email link is a must and yes if you own the domain name jabridesign you should have received several email boxes from godaddy that you can use with that domain name ex. Travis@jabridesign.com or whatever at no additional cost to you.

hope this helps.

SoCal: Thanks for taking the time to critique. I always welcome it.

First of all, the email address was something I didn't put much thought into. And you are absolutely right, with every domain purchase comes a free email account. It is now activated and ready to be put to use. <wink>

Good call on the meta tags as I have completely forgotten about those in regards to SEO. One thing I felt I needed was more content.

Yes, the font was heavy and uneasy on the eyes. That will change with the next layout. I'm about a third of the way through and should have it completed by the middle of next week.

Again, this is my first run at building a website so I'm very limited to what I can do. I tried hiring a few people who placed ads on craigslist but all 3 had different reasons why they couldn't make the site for me. One person didn't know CSS (who builds websites in 2008 and doesn't know CSS?!). The second and third persons were just fakes.

As a result, here I am building my own. :SIB

*** wareagle! many years indeed. glad you're still making coin from cotton. stay good. ***

You could get some real world experience using the crowdsourcing model at CrowdSpring

http://www.crowdspring.com/

Your logos are nice, and I think you would be rewarded in a crowd-sourced environment.

where did all of the critiquers go? let me know what you think of the new look damnit!

My .02:

I would say is why not scroll what you have in the portfolio in the left pane under latest work? e.g. a 10 second timer that shows a thumbnail or since you are dicking around with flash/flex & .js why not have the landing page display the portfolio as an intro with all of the work? You can do 5-10 for a few seconds per logo and then pivot into the main page & rotate the images out. Not sure why you are truncating/cropping the thumbnails on the portfolio page. Get the freaking style sheet code out of every page, put it one document and call it for each page. When and if the site grows it's a maintenance nightmare to manage CSS code on every page. Lose the arrow on the portfolio page..it's a HREF to itself. On the contact page after pasting data there is no way to pivot back to your site from this page: http://www.jabridesign.com/mailer.php - post the validation message below the contact forms.
