It seems pretty technical - Can you summarize?

Yeah, madjacksports marketing division reported 1.9 billion in income last quarter and we're doing great :00hour

Reality: madjacksports marketing division lost 1.9 billion but an accounting loophole allowed us to bullshit you guys into believing all is well and we recorded that loss as income.

Things are great, keep lending us money and buying our stock. :00hour

Meanwhile, we'll lay off another 10,000 employees and increase executive salaries :0008

C'mon, Jack....

That's the same loophole the government uses!

Social Security IS solvent. So is Medicare and Medicaid and the USPS.

So, when in Rome, do as the Romans.........

The difference is that those entities exist solely for the benefit of the people. We used to be OK with that. We used to be willing to chip in for the good of society.

Suddenly everything in government is supposed to make a profit. It's not mathematically possible. Eventually we will have to get rid of the military, public schools, fire departments, ....everything that can't report a profit.

As for the Solyndra scam - yes - people should go to jail over that crap. Same with Madjacks. ...err, I mean JP Morgan.

zerohedge is a great site - tends on the gloom and doom side of things but I think their reporting tends to be pretty spot on, usually report on things earlier than most and report on things that others don't as well

I wonder if you were just as outraged by the $600 million in cash Enron received in Export-Import Bank subsidies (a program funded with tax dollars) or the $1 Billion they received in OPIC loan guarantees (also taxpayer funded) for a dozen projects Enron was involved in. All money that U.S. taxpayers were never repaid. :0003

Don't know-- you might ask Paul Krugman he was on Enron's advisory. DUH
:popcorn2

We'd be rated B- had GW bailed out Enron-Worldcom- Tyco and ever other loser--with tax payors money.

--and guess what--the loses were weeded out and competition got stronger--which is way free enterprise works.

--also if its tax payors money your worried about we got recent thread on gov corruption and bail out--in case you are really concerned and want to contribute-
More Solyndra Corruption?

Umm, no. I'll ask you instead.

You're clearly upset over the $500 million Solyndra boondoggle. Were you just as upset about the $1.6 billion fleecing of American taxpayers by Enron?

After all, I'm sure it was just a coincidence that Kenneth Lay was a close personal friend of the Bush's. No crony capitalism there...

I agree but for the past two and a half years too many right wingers have been in a state of self and media induced denial that all things bad began when Obama took the oath of office, and if we just throw the bum out and put a "fiscal conservative" back in office, it'll be blue skies and puppy dogs and we'll all live happily ever after.

Not that I'm implying that you, yourself are under any such delusions. :0008
