Retaliation? My son was in the 5th grade and some kid hit him so he hit him back and guess what? They both got suspended. The principal didn't give a shit whose fault it was because they both were involved.

Great analogy...to carry it forward, it is kind of like the principal coming into a classroom and saying, "If you boys don't settle down, I'm going to have to do something."

That always immediately ends the bad behavior and gains enduring love and respect for the principal.
