already up at LSU +5 at my local.

Thoughts? Will the line go up or down from this between now and gametime? Initial lean is to LSU to keep this one close

I think this game has more hype than the NC will :mj07:

I like Bama to win at home, but LSU to cover, in an all out war

LSU scary good. Both teams have a week off before playing one another.

Alabama plays at home this week against the Viles and LSU plays Awbarn.

Only similar opponent to date is Florida and both LSU and Bama dominated (although LSU got to face the third string QB for 60 minutes). Will be curious to hear what the UcheaT players have to say after Saturday night.

Did not watch any of the Tigers and Viles this weekend but from what I read, the Madhatters did not play a very good game.

My main concern for Alabama is their kicking game. They need to do a better job of kicking off deep, but unless they can snag a soccer player in the next few weeks that's not going to happen.

I think the X factor in this game is the QB play of both teams. Alabama's AJ McCarron has been labeled a "game manager" which as CNS points out is not a slight but a compliment. All the guy does is win. Makes good reads and passes, doesn't force the issue and hardly makes a mistake but everyone's defense pales in comparison to LSU, which is true, until you consider that every day in practice McCarron goes up against a defense every bit as good as LSU's, his own.

LSU's Lee has proven to be a quality QB this season, but I just can't believe that Miles has allowed Jefferson back into the offense as quickly as he has. Maybe he has done so to cause the Tide to prepare for both QBs. Both were effective this past weekend. I think it's important for LSU to score early against the Tide. For some reason Alabama doesn't seem to click on defense until late in the first quarter. After that, you'd better carry your lunch pail cause the defense is locked, loaded and focused.

If you can stop the Alabama running game you have an excellent chance of beating the Tide. Chavis is one helluva of a DC and I know he will be working OT to stop Trent Richardson and Eddie Lacy. Was happy to see that UcheaT was able to run the ball against LSU though. The Viles were the worst rushing team in the SEC and were able to get 111 yards on the ground. Imgaine what Richardson could do?

Since CNS has come to Tuscaloosa, every LSU/Bama game has gone down to late in the 4th quarter and I would be disappointed if this one did not as well.

This game feels like 2009 all over again. Both coaches will pull out all the stops and I expect to see a handful of trick plays.

The winner plays for the National Championship and the winner will be Alabama 24-20.

The Vols are without their best offensive weapon - WR Justin Hunter, QB Bray, two best defensive players, and we played with LSU for a half. Like Cie Grant said, the second half is where the Vols are going to struggle. You have to have depth at every position, and that is where we are - none.

I think Bama being at home and I also think they have better starters, will beat LSU. I also think there is an outside shot these two meet again in the BCS title game.:0corn

If the line is 5.5 I will most likely play LSU. I think Bama wins a very very close game. I think Bama's defense is a little better and Lsu's offense (its hard to say this) is a little better. Lee has played well we can run and throw. If Bama's running game can be stopped LSU can win. What scares me is Bama is much bigger up front. How will Lsu's smaller faster players match up? I am expecting a Bama 3 to 4 point win. I just don't see us beating Saban up there.

Alabama has some very gaudy defensive stats, but agains who?

Total Offensive rankings of Bama's opponents

Kent St- 120th
Penn St- 78th
North Texas- 111th
Arkansas-23th at home
Florida- 89th
Vanderbilt-116th
Ole Miss- 117th

By comparison LSU has played offenses ranked

#5 Oregon in dallas
#11 West Virginia in wva
#72 Tennessee
#76 Miss State
#89 Florida
#100 nw st.
#118 Kentucky

Thinking LSU outright myself. Tigers have played the tougher schedule and Lee is the best QB (hopefully Jefferson doesn't play much). Bama has shown they can be mistake prone with turnovers at times. I believe this will be the difference and LSU wins. See 3 Bama turnovers and 1 LSU turnover in a 27-20 LSU victory.:0corn

I could actually be very happy laying off the game altogether. One of the teams getting a loss in SEC play will make me happy. and it should be a great game

having said that. who the F am I kidding about laying off a game like this

Alabama has 7 total turnovers for the season and none in the past 4 games.

4 interceptions and all came in the season opener against Kent State with 2 thrown by the back-up Phillip Sims (on back to back series). This was also when Saban was alternating the QBs every other series as well.

3 fumbles (1 against Kent St. by DeAndrew White and the other 2 against North Texas by McCarron on a sack and a "team" fumble).

LSU has only turned the ball over 3 times all season (1 each against Oregon, Mississippi State and Northwestern State).

LSU leads the nation in turnover margin at +13. Alabama is at +5.

Lsu has played a much tougher schedule. At Bama and saban 2 weeks to prepare is a very scary scenario. I do see Alabama as somewhat 1 dimensional. If you can stop there run they dont have a qb who can beat you.
