Not trying to get involved in you & Scott's lovefest......
But, the Big 12 was easily the weaker of the conferences compared to the Pac 10. You mentioned that there was no defense in the Pac 10, but six Big 12 teams (half the conference!) allowed over 30 ppg against other teams from BCS conferences. Three of those teams gave up more than 40 ppg!!! Texas (24.8) & OK St (29.8) barely missed making that list. And if you subtract games played against Baylor & Iowa St from the stats then those #'s get much worse. How can you have one QB pass for over 5000 yds & another pass for 40 td's & still claim pride for the defense played in the Big 12.
Ok St, Mizzou, Texas & Tx Tech had 1 or less quality wins on the season & basically used the Bill Snyder scheduling philosophy to get into the bowl season. And, except for Tx Tech, they all took the same ass-whippings in the bowls that usually await K St at the end of every season.
The true separation between the Pac 10 & Big 12 comes in the form of coaching & recruiting. Few schools in the Big 12 have access to the Texas area to recruit the top talent. That's why Texas, OU & K St will always stay on top of that conf. All the teams in the Pac 10 recruit from talent-rich California high schools.
Check Colorado's roster for it's CA recruits & you will see why they usually compete well in the Big 12. Coaching is a complete mismatch between the conferences & getting worse w/ Stoops' little brother taking over at Arizona.
And, in regards to your post about the greatest team of all time being OU, what you said was "nothing can match these guys from what I have seen." You made those comments before you saw them play a tough opponent on the road, or before you saw their offense perform when they really needed to score in the 2H of a game. The Sooners failed miserably on both fronts 2 games in a row.
I personally believe the SEC & Pac 10 are the best conferences in the country. I give the edge to the Pac 10 because they have beaten up the SEC teams in recent head to head matchups.
