Haven't posted in a few weeks after going through a brutal stretch. But, I'm back for the tournaments with a New Attitude

MAC Tourney thoughts and plays:
Ball St. at Buffalo--Bulls have been a disappointment this year but they get fired up for the tournament. The students will get all smoked up on Tuesday and the arena should be rocking. Bulls should play hard at home and win a trip to Cleveland. Last year, I couldn't believe how many Buffalo students made the trip. There were so many fat girls I had visions of Booger in Revenge of the Nerds saying, "Damn, you Mus sure can party!" I can't see Testicle Tech getting fired up for a game in Buffalo especially since a win means a beating at the hands of Kent St. Can the Bulls cover 9.5 points? I think so. They should control the boards and win by 12 or so.

Central Michigan at Ohio--Bobcats still a dangerous team but I'm reluctant to lay 17.5. The total is 129 and I think the over is the play. The first time they played it was 35-7 at the half, which you would think is a football score, except everyone knows Ohio could never score 35 in a football half. That game still ended up with 120 points scored. CMU should be able to muster a little more offense this time around, so the 129 is little too low. I'll take the over in this one.

Bowling Green at Toledo--Stan is trying to save his job and he's got the draw to do it. BG has hit rock bottom. Both the side and the total seem about right. No play for me.

Eastern Michigan at Western Michigan--I like Eastern to keep this one close. WMU's tourney experience will give them the edge but they have struggled in their last two games. Bowler will have a big game and Eagles should be able to hang around. Take EMU +8.

There you go. One chalk, one over and one dog. Fade away!

just got your mail. really lookin forward to catching up with you guys thursday.

that toledo line looks really whacked. bg definitely has hit rock bottom but something about dakich as a DD rivalry dog is really appealing. i know he cant suit up and hit the shots himself but id be surprised if bg mailed it in tomorrow night against their biggest rival.

Falcon, FWIW I had already played one of the plays you have,( EMU+) so you may want to buy that one back. Of all the home sides only WMU seems vulnerable.

Got to love the draw that the Zips received. Only Toledo seems to be a concern in their bracket and I could see the Rockets upsetting them, but only if the Zips stumble. If Akron can play anywhere near the way they played in the 2nd half vs Kent, they could well win this thing. I think that was their best 20 minutes of the year and even more important than the win is the fact that their psyche is now back where it belongs.

I've been calling for Peterson to get more minutes all season, and he finally received the opportunity. Now Dambrot seemingly has no choice to put his feelings toward DP aside and keep him on the floor.

Should be fun guys, have a cold Amstel ready for me!

The top bracket is tough. Akron definitely got a great draw. I see the BG line is down to 14 and the Buffalo line has dipped to 8.5. I'm pretty sure that once Pinnacle saw I was putting money on Buffalo they figured Ball was sure to cover. I just want to see fat Buffalo girls in thick sweaters at the Winking Lizard on Friday and Saturday.

Cant wait to see that. I was really impressed by the number of fans that Buffalo sent down last year, I heard they had to resurface I 90 due to the overload.

i completely agree though. the amount of fans buffalo brought to the tourney last year was very impressive. and they were really loud too. heavy. but loud. im not sure kent state will have a cakewalk on thursday if the bulls take care of business tomorrow night.

Do any of you guys know why my Red Hawks got the #4 seed as opposed to the the #3?? I know that the other division winner gets the 2.....

Akron and Miami tied, and then split the season series. Was it something really meaningful...like a dreaded coin flip?!?!?!

I think Akron has a nice path to the final, although Zippy has not had alot of tourney experience in Cleveland. The other half of the bracket is much more difficult...with a probable Buffalo/Kent and OU/Miami matchup....

As for Miami, it would not surprise me in the least to see the Bobcats knock them out. Miami got them twice this year, but it's awful difficult to knock your rival out 3 times in the same season when you are farly evenly matched. Either way, it'll be a fun tournament to wacth----always is! I'll probably take in both sessions on Thursday and take it from there......

barring an absolute miracle, great call on the ohio/cmich over. ohio just bombing away on this team.

Thanks, gman. Didn't get the cover with Buffalo at 9.5 but had plenty at 7.5 close to gametime to win some cash. Bulls can't seem to finish anyone off. I'm anxious to see the lines for Thursday. Do you think we will see a #7 (Toledo) favored over a #2 (NIU)?

funny you asked that about toledo/northern. i was going to ask the same thing about ohio and miami as well. obviously thats not a huge gap (only the #4 vs. #5). i think both lower seeds could be favored in said games.

going to go out on a limb here and throw these projections out there:

akron -5.5
kent state -6.5
miami -1.5 (though ohio -1.5 wouldnt be a shocker either)
toledo (don't laugh) (-3)

I'd take the Rockets at -3 but I think we will get a little better line when it opens. Toledo is playing pretty well and Stan is staying out of their way. In the two o'clock game we probably should take WMU with the off shore since Spang will lay double digits on a side bet with us for a nice middle once we get him a few Amstels! The nine o'clock game will be a very interesting. The winner might not have much left for Kent.
