***I have played at several online sites. First, I wil flat out say that I do NOT trust Paradise Poker. I have no idea if the site is rigged, but I am convinced their security measures leave something to be desired. Other sites get a mixed review from me. I DO like and play at Poker Stars -- which is excellent. As far as Ultimate Bet, I first downloaded the software about a year ago when they openned. I was not thrilled with the site at the time, but since it was new I relaized it takes time to generate a client base. I have a freind in Maryland, Tom, who is part owner of the affiliate MAGIC PALACE. He and I were talking and later I tried UB again using the Magic Palace system. There were more games (better table selection) that what I had seen previously. I was also impressed with Magic's giveaways. I played at Paradise for over a year and never fot so much as a thank you. The Magic points system and sign up bonus is a nice encentive. I also like Poker Stars which allows you to accummulate frequent player points for free tournament entries.

Do you play there?

***Yes, although not as often as I would like. Since I now live in LV, I have ample opportunities to play in B/M cardrooms-- whihc I prefer. When in Washington, I did not have that option.

How long have you played there?

***At Ultimate Bet, about a year (off and on). At Magic Palace about 6 weeks.

Nolan, are you familiar with partypoker.com?

I saw them on the travel channel. They sponsored a Hold em Tournament on a cruise ship, first prize was a million dollars!

They hold qualifying tourneys on the web site and you can win a trip for 2 on one of their cruises. It includes a seat in the million dollar tourney.

You can also just play poker, without trying to qualify for the tourney, on this site. Curious if you had any info on the reliability of this site, it seems like it is OK. They had a lot of the BIG Names in the tourney on the cruise. It was won by Kathy Liebert (became the first woman to win a million dollars in a poker tournament)

Many of the world's top poker players were dealt in, including former World Champions Phil Hellmuth, Tom McEvoy, Johnny Chan, and Huck Seed. Other notable players included Marsha Wagonner, Men "The Master" Nguyen, T.J. Cloutier, Barbara Enright, reigning TOC champion Brian Saltus, former TOC champion David Chiu, Ken Flaton, Card Player Magazine mogul Barry Shulman, and Phil Ivey.

i play there......have made 800$ playing 50/1.00 and 1/2 since i joined oct. 1st.....got my first 2 checks already and bought 400$ of new threads today......the place is loaded with fish.....have made 6 cashouts in 21 days now all for 100-150....i will not play higher limit tables due to cheating possibility....i would think that most cheaters will not play at the 50 cent tables....plus for the loose play that is there, it is almost not worth it to cheat....pretty much can't buy any hands....

also ran into Ozball one night....lol....i use my drfreeze name there and play almost every night so hollar if ya see me......usually play about an hour every night before i go to bed....sometimes other times though....nice break from studying.....

i have also thought Paradise is rigged.....i have learned how to play good poker and do not have success for some reason there despite the relatively loose play.....had moderate success, but only seemed transient - went away after first cashout.....made me question their site.....players are not that good there but i was constantly getting beat by gutshots and other anomalies

***My comments follow.....

***The concept of online poker is terrific. No idle chatter. No cigarette smoke. You can sit in your underwear (horrors!) and play poker. For those who live in fascist states where gambling is a crime, this is the only option.

***Man, I could write about this topic forever. Lot's to say. I believe the Atlantic City holdem market is dead. Other than some sporatic games one weekends, a working pro will have a hard time making a decent living (from holdem in Atlantic City). Even if you are not a pro, this is a factor -- what it means is, if a pro cannot make 1-1.5 BB/hour that means the average +EV hourly is less than a big bet. For a recreational player, it essentially means playing BREAK EVEN is the best case scenario (I'm talking long term projection -- anything can happen in s single weekend). If you play stud well, that's a different matter. Many more games to choose from and the earn is higher. If you play very well and have a big bankroll, six figures is possible at the Taj (yearly). I know people that are doing it. But so far as strictly holdem, no -- the market is dead. Foxwoods is slightly better -- but that's because of the great 20-40 game that supposedly goes around the clock at neighboring Mohegan Sun (it's a great game -- lot's of dumb money coming in from NYC and Boston -- plus a general affluence of the populaion of New England makes FW/MS a slighty better poker market than AC.

***This is a no-brainer. Las Vegas, by far. However, Los Angeles is actually the best poker market in the world. Los Angeles County and it's big five cardrooms have more high limit games daily than in the entire city of Las Vegas. Middle limit poker in LA is immensely more profitable than Las Vegas. IN Las Vegas, there is only the Bellagio, Mirage, and occasionally the Horseshoe which spreads games over $15-30. There is some $10-20 action at Orleans, Mandalay Bay, the Palms (maybe other places), but the bread and butter middle income games are best on weekends when the California crowd swarms into Las Vegas. Mid-week, these games play a bit tighter, except when a large convention is in town. So, Las Vegas poker is much better than AC (reason -- more table selection, more games, lower rakes). If you play holdem, consider that on an average weekend there are probably no more than 15 holdem games in the city of Atlantic City (including low limits). By contrast, there are probably 200-250 holdem games in Las Vegas. But, the quality of those games is slightly tougher for the lower limits, and easier for the middle limits. I do not play above $30-60 (except PL and NL), so I cannot comment on high limit action other than second-hand.

***Las Vegas is the second best poker market in the world. But Los Angeles is light years ahead of Nevada. I would come out here and stay at a Budget Suites for a month and see how you like it and what you earn before making any drastic decisions. ALso, if you play poker professionally in Las Vegas, you better work the second shift (nights). Forget about regular hours. This lifestyle can be difficult for a married person -- and if you have kids you might as well forget it.

***I must have booked a win that night. Ah yes, now I rememember. :)

You will play against the same players using the Magic Palace link as
UltimateBet.

Whatever bankroll you place in your personal account is valid by logging
into either Magic Palace Poker, or UltimateBet.

Since you are playing against both UltimateBet and Magic Palace Poker
players, the number of players connected to the site will be the same.
