:scared ...... TOP 4 EVER??? WOW, are you eating the cheese? In no particular order...

Montana
Manning Peyton(time left for accomplishments)
Brady(Ditto what I mentioned about Peyton)
Marino
Elway
Aikman
Steve Young

ARGUEMENTS could be made for ALL of these guys listed above whether its QB ratings, Super Bowl accomplishments, Yards and records.......and Farve will fit somewhere into this lineup....but TOP 4 ever, nah.....and these are only the guys I'VE seen in my short life....so I know a few of the elder members of the forum can add a few as well.
Farve is a GOOD QB, he has records of accomplishments but to me its mostly as a testiment of time, single season TD records, passing yards, and all that GOOD stuff belongs to the afore mentioned.....If I remember correctly he won 1 superbowl and wasnt even the MVP of that event as the LATE GREAT REGGIE WHITE(RIP) earned those honors. The other superbowl he particioated in he lost to ELWAY, if memeory serves me well.

Wrong on many counts. And Desmond Howard won the MVP with a zillion return yards. Favre played quite well in the SB win. In Elway's win go look at his numbers...he didnt do anything.

FROM PFT

Chris Mortensen of ESPN reports that Packers quarterback Brett Favre has signed a letter requesting reinstatement, but that Favre might not send it until Monday or Tuesday.

Per Mort, Favre says that G.M. Ted Thompson ?pleaded? with Favre to give the team more time to figure out the situation.

?I asked Ted [Saturday], ?Am I welcome in the building if I report?? and Ted was just about shattered,? Favre said. ?He said, ?Brett, you can?t do that ? you?ll get me fired.? I told him I?m not trying to get anybody fired. So Ted asked me to let the guys report and let?s try to resolve this over the next two or three days.?

Favre also said he?s getting pressure from his agent, Bus Cook, and his wife, Deanna, to move forward.

?Deanna, Bus, everyone here [in Mississippi] says, ?You?re so stupid, letting [the Packers] play you like this,? Favre said. ?They want me to get in there now. I may wait until Tuesday or so.?

Favre also said that he asked Thompson to let him genuinely compete for the starting job in Green Bay.

?I said, ?Let me compete, you?ll know I?ll win this job? and Ted said again, ?Brett, things have changed. Aaron Rodgers is our quarterback.? It?s pretty clear ? and this is what I told the commissioner ? that they want me to go away, stay retired. They would much rather see me in a Packers? uniform, paying me $12 million to be a backup ? which you know they really don?t want ? rather than see in another uniform, no matter what they say. They?ll drag this out, asking a king?s ransom [in a trade], hoping it all goes away.?

And so the situation, which seemed two days ago to be destined to resolve amicably, is getting uglier. If Favre is portraying his call with Thompson accurately (and it?s possible that Favre is exaggerating, to put it kindly), the Packers are backed into a corner, and it very well could be that their only options are to genuinely welcome him back, or let him walk.

Sounds like a relationship gone bad,and I guess it is.He will never play for GB again,if so id be surprised.

He could and should get on another team, but would he play for a non-contender?

Just a big game of chicken now. Thompson has totally F'd the whole thing. This hsould be real simple ...which guy can best help you win this year? Is there any doubt Favre would win the job? This whole we are moving on thing is absurd.

That said -why would Favre cooperate with a trade unless it is where he wants to go? It seems clear at this point Favre doesnt want to go to Tampa and it is Minnesota or bust. And relaistically, why would anybody trade for him? If you are a GM for another team you know eventually he is going to get released and you can get him for nothing...

I figure in two days Favre is on a plane to Wisconsin and Thompson has to release him or deal with a circus.

He doesn't need to. Once it sets in that Rogers is the starter and the future game plan for the team is defensive based (something I think Favre wouldn't be interested in doing), he'll have the best back up in the league. The organization can move ahead with Favre holding the clipboard. Brett can tell that his pleas are not getting the hoped public outcry from the publicly owned team. Of course, there will always be those small picture minds that aren't capable of making future plans that would benefit the team in the long run. Not just make the playoffs again and lose only to puke the future.

Thompson asked Brett to stay away from camp the 1st couple days while he tries to work something out.

You arent so delusional to think there is a future with Aaron Rogers are you? Even Thompson doesnt think that eles (1) he wouldnt have wanted Favree back as the starter 3 months ago and (2) he wouldnt have drafted 2 QBs, tried to sign Culpepper and tried to trade for Simms.

Why is everyone so quick to dismiss Rodgers before his official rookie season?A first round pick(#25)who in college brought Cal to a #4 ranking?

Maybe im missing something, but does anyone see the upside to this guy? When Brady took over in NE,under diferent circumstance I know,But still I thought the same thing, who is this guy.

We know how that turned out.
Rodgers will have some bumps along the way,but lets give this guy a chance ,no?

Because I have watched Rogers play and he has had 2 decent quarters ever....because in the 7 games he has actually played he has had two season ending injuries...he is about as durable as toilet paper. Yeah he lead Cal to a lofty ranking...then in the bowl game he allowed a pathetic Texas Tech defense to look like the 85 Bears.

Even GB doubts his upside thus the moves they have made and tried to make. Worse he is a free agent after this season.

Ill be honest,I dont know much about him,so you could be right.

But just because they had interest in Culpepper and Simms really doesnt say much IMO.

give rodgers a chance

give rodgers a chance

i, like others who have posted, cannot understand why everyone is so quick to say that rodgers is terrible and has no chance of being a decent qb in the nfl. you are saying that he's terrible based on the 7 games that you've seen, most of which are preseason. it makes no sense to me.

i think that its obvious that the packers have faith in rodgers right now, otherwise they would welcome bret back with open arms. the fact that they drafted qbs says that they are looking for depth in that position, not looking for a starter. they have always drafted qbs in gb, even when favre started. does that mean that they had no faith in him? do some research on the qbs that played behind favre in gb (brunell, hasselback, etc.). it seems to me that packer players are fully behind rodgers, which should give him confidence. he seems to be handling this well, and i'm excited to see how he does.

he has had the perfect amount of time in the league (IMO) as a backup and should be comfortable with the offense, reads, etc. i'm not saying he's the answer, but i think that he has a great chance to excel.

BTW, why is everybody saying that thompson sucks as GM in gb? he built an unbelievable team around favre last year, loading him with plenty of weapons and a line to protect him. he has done a great job with his time there imo.

I agree,as long as he stays healthy he should do fine.I think alot of it is the resentment behind farve, and how hes being pushed out.

Even though he stated he was done and now wants to come back,he has brought this on everybody and has noone to blame about this soap opera mess but himself.

Time will tell.

and so that automatically means he will get injured again?

GB planned on Brett being gone. They drafted a backup QB and have been looking at backups like Simms and Culpeeper as they needed it with Brett RETIRED.

So now Brett wants back in. Meaning GB essentially wasted a draft pick (THANKS BRETT!) and spent a lot of offseason time trying to get a backup for Rodgers.

I think Brett gives GB a better chance to win, but Rodgers isnt a slug. He deserves a chance to see if he can be the future of this franchise. Should GB sign him to a long term deal? Cut their losses? Find another QB? How can GB know if they wont give the guy a chance?

Brett should quit yanking GB around every year with this retirement hide and seek and move on.

GB needs to trade him to an AFC team and get as much compensation for him as possible.

The main one the broken foot id beconerned about, esp were they inserted screw to repair it .

The hamstring injury, what ya gonna do.A common injury in sports esp if your a bench player.

The foot will def. get tested in camp and preseason, which should tell how it holds up.Would imagine it gets sore esp. in cold weather.
Thats why they have more than 1 qb on a roster.

By no way am I comparing Grogan to Farve.Farve is or was def. better. But for an example while with NE he knew when his time was up.

He stayed mostly to bring Eason along then went into the sunset. Its just to bad the same cant be said for Farve.I like Farve, hes done alot for the game.Hes had great years, and bad ones too.

Id hate to see he go to a non-contender and get embarressed.

I'll say it again one of top four ever played the game. For sure in bad weather was unreal. Last year threw for over 4000 yrds. Leads in how many catagories. I would say has two years left. Never injured that bad. If Packs Don't want him with Vikes or Bears and it sounds now like TB. What are they saying he would beat them. Does NFL wanted him another year or two. Heck yes there rating go up on games with him.

I got a feeling the offense GB will run this year will look nothing like those of the recent past. Maybe this Rogers kid actually fits in fine with it. He's not gonna be asked to do what Farve was. Let the GM manage the team and the crybabies do what they do best for another team.

i'm a huge gb fan, and therefore have been a big favre fan my entire life. i am in no way a favre hater, but let's be honest here.

who really thinks that he'll have a good year with another squad?? new offense, new personnel, etc....

i think that's one point that a lot of people are overlooking. people automatically assume that favre will lead a 'good' team to the superbowl or something. let's not forget the two years he had before last year.
